And if you can take away something meaningful from the modding experience (e.g. better understanding of damping and acoustics), which often is the case.

Modding in general is great, it's a fantastic flow activity and is almost always rewarding in the end.

Sure! I didn't say it wasn't rewarding, just that it's harder and you'd have to LIKE the tinkering.

Are cups not plastic and does powder coating not melt them ? How easy is it to remove cups, does soldered cable into the ortho not stop you taking them off ?

I'm new to finding good headphones and just bought a cheap pair of Superlux HD662 (the "fat DT 770"...maybe not) in the meantime...what would I gain by buying the Fostex MD's (probably loads !) ? I do like the fat warm bass on these though, I've just been dying to finally hear the ortho/planar magnetic sound...........

I do believe a low temp powder coat of sorts is used. Nonetheless, the T50RP's have been worked on and painted, etc.

I thought powder coating was for the bars and paint for the cups.  I could be wrong...

Thanks a lot for the sibilance replies. They become more and more attractive to me.

Too bad I have to import them, with additional shipping and customs costs.

Now, are there MD owners who have also the DT 150, or heard them?

How do they compare?

I am uncertain about that. Luis is going to stormtrooper my HD800 out. Which is plastic.

You may be correct, he mentioned a white gloss paint job and white powder coated screens, for example.

I also "know a guy" if someone is looking for paint mods. Send me a pm.

I've been wanting a to get mine painted since I saw a few of LFF's photos of the painted Paradoxes he did for customers, though it's all cost-dependant. On it's own in black the T50RP does look pretty low-rent.

I like the look of the mad dogs, espically the new ones with the simple typography on them

I like the simplicity of the design, but the font disagrees with me. It just looks a bit too unremarkable.

Can't please us all.

Your design stinks, Dan! tongue.gif

Like my chicken-scratch-ass could do any better. etysmile.gif

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the design. It's clean, simple, and probably has a lot of thought into it, and I like the clean design better than the old one. It's just not for me, is all.

I like the new design.  Heck, I'm considering ditching the decals all together - incognito is good in my book!  Gotta admit, though, for all the barking dog with bleeding ears (I know, sound wave forms...) bashing I did, the old logo is finally growing on me.  A little. ;o)
