I'm not sure if the DAC is actually any better or if I'm still being wowed by my MDs after owning them for a month...

If anyone's interested, here's my setup as of right now, including that new cable: ;)

Nice cable wink_face.gif, I seriously am I huge fan on that Fiio E07. Like I said I got it for my gf for xmas just think it'd be a mediocre dac/amp but I am very very impressed and i'm def going to grab one. Actually I'm using her's right now lol

^^ I'm also quite impressed with the e07. For $80 shipped it's really tough to beat for the versatility. Gonna get around to trying it out the maddogs today.

If you are willing to drive down to San Diego maybe Dan can meet you somewhere for a private audition.  He lives north of San Diego, so the drive down should not take you that long.   If he is not available, and you are willing to drive all the way down here (close to Qualcolmm stadium), we could meet at some coffee shop and you can listen to my pair.

That's a great offer. It wouldn't be to bad a drive; I live in the Laguna area of South Orange County. It would give me an excuse to go to Phil's BBQ for some awesome ribs and then Peterson's for a brick of maple bar. Unfortunately, a new semester is about to start and I'm sure my wife wouldn't be to thrilled leaving her alone with our new twins to go audition some headphones rolleyes.gif. Maybe i'll find time though.

I know there has been a post or two about it, but I was wondering if anyone who also has had the pleasure of a Magnum V4/X driver go into how it compares, or maybe more appropriately, compliments the Mad Dogs.

I think that my next future investment that I can finally settle down with (this is more of a fantasy--I'm more than happy with the MD's alone) would be with both my closed MD's and an open-backed alternative custom Magnum. I'm just a little intimidated by how elaborate a process it seems to be, like trying to decide on a perfect leather jacket, but I digress.

Can anyone comment on how well the o2+odac drives the Mad Dogs? Also is there anything I need to know before getting one?

I'd like to try this great hp with my power amp (Bantam gold): is there a way of doing

that without mods to the earcup? A custom cable with a jack adaptor to speaker tabs, maybe?

The mad Dog and ODAC / O2 combo is the best bang for buck setup I have heard. The combo just sounds really amazing.

Neutral, details, and show full potential of Mad Dog.

I read somewhere in this thread that Dan tests every Mad Dog that he turned with a O2/ODac.

I've tried a friend's custom magnum v4. It's a different beast from the Mad Dog. The sound was big and more suited for EDM. I think it is a complimentary to the Mad Dog.

Drives it quite well and with plenty of volume. The O2/ODAC is a great match for most, if not all, modded T50RPs.

Nice thanks guys, I went ahead and pulled the trigger last night. This better be as good as everything says it is for price, I've bought other items that I've read that were over hyped and been like "wtf are these head-fiers talking about?". I guess JDS Labs is out of the ODAC until January 31st, I bought them separate so I can also use them for portable use because I'm gay like that

OMG!  The Emperor has no clothes!

Just kidding.  I'm curious about the set up, but have my eggs in other baskets - Centrance HIFI M8 (whenever it ships...), and kskwerl's cast off iBasso PB2/DB2 set up.  Now if I'd just get off my arse and either pay someone to do a balanced recable, or clean off my workbench (about 6 years of crud stacked on it) and do it myself, I could really see what these sound like...
