Was that addressed towards me? If so, I've had the Paradox since...Febuary or March of this year. Somewhere around that time. I got the MDs in yesterday and have already put a few hours of listening into them.

If you're not addressing me...nevermind. wink.gif

Long story short, the pair I received are somewhat dry sounding compared to my Paradox. I think most people would expect that to be the OPPOSITE of what's expected. And, yes, I've made sure I'm getting a proper seal on my head before anyone asks. :P Dan's been very helpful, and I appreciate his assistance! Here's to hoping I'm not just a crazy person.

Unfortunately, figuring out what's up is a bit complex because the user opened the phone, so I want to get it back in house to validate performance and tuning.

Opening the phone can detune it, and one possible affect is reduction in bass, another is that it can bloat the bass, and regardless it will void your warranty.  In this case, opening the phone may have had nothing or everything to do with it but either we'll make sure that the phone is in spec and performing correctly.

So PLEASE, never open the phones up...

To expand on that, said user only opened them after listening to them for a long while and noticing what said user assumed to be unusually dryness in the sound. Only opened one cup. Sound did not change after opening the cup. wink.gif

So while I've learned to not open them again, I'm fairly certain opening them didn't contribute to what I'm hearing. I really do appreciate that Dan offered to check them out for me anyway. Excellent customer service! smily_headphones1.gif

could anyone tell me the differences between the Mad Dog and the Sony MDR-R1?

i cant seem to decide between these two. I only listen to Trance and will be running it off an iPod classic through an E11.

the original review from dorino mentions issues with the labels in the build quality section and that this will be fixed soon. Are the laminated vinyl labels the fix for this and are they been used for the new units being shipped?

Just got my Mad Dogs smily_headphones1.gif listening to them now...

I have to ask though, what is the difference between the stock cable and the v moda cable? XD

Nothing sonically that I can hear. Just a choice between 1/4 and 1/8 termination. I like the vmoda as it's more flexible.

700

The Topping D1 is one of them and I was told that it should have a good synergy with the Mad Dog. I'll have a listen over the weekend and hopefully I can share my impressions on the pairing next week.

Delivered yesterday, it took, only 10 days by  USPS First Class mail International to Italy ($ 17,88).

First impressions are very good, for both quality of mods and sound of the Mad dogs out of box.

Thank you, Dan, for your kindness and assistance.

Are there any aftermarket cable mods besides v-moda cables without opening the cans up? I know this question has been answered before but I can't seem to find the exact post.

I feel like the stock cable has a bigger soundstage than the v-moda cable though...

Hey guys,

I have some overtime money coming in soon and would like to get myself a dedicated desktop amp for my PC setup, specifically with the Mad Dogs in mind.  I've searched this thread *somewhat* and am currently looking into the Schiit Asgard and Matrix M-Stage among others.

Any recommendations for a budget of 300-500 dollars?

ODAC + O2 amp. I got mine from JDS Labs. You could also consider the Leckerton Audio UHA-6S. I haven't heard or looked into the ones you mentioned.
