But that's not saying it's all bad.  As we all know, it's the negative impressions that make the most impact and the majority of people who have good service don't both posting.

I'd like to say thanks to Unique Melody as during this time of alleged customer service problems, I have received two monitors from them with no problems. My merlins arrived within four weeks and my miracles within six weeks. Both fit perfectly and have amazing build quality. And a ways back I commented on not liking the red box etc and as if by magic they somehow produced totally new packaging in the six weeks it took for my miracles to arrive.

There is room for improvement in the customer service department for sure but overall I'm happy. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

With regard to the platform pure.. how hard would it be to make it compatible with the jh3a monitors? It would be a great feature if you could switch between different firmware or settings of some sort then use other iems with the platform pure active crossover.

lol, there are people like you and projectdenz who had a good experience with them, yet there are people who's IEMs have been screwed up more than once resulting in > 6m delays (incl the same screw ups multiple times and very basic failing at customer service). 'alleged' look at the reshells and merlin threads man ? Don't forget the 'UM Global Deal - The lucky 25' special that they're still 'shovelling' poo off. (and I personally had horrible problems with ciem.com and UMAus/Global). and the ampcity UK dealer... I think most of it was from UMLab problems and dealers being screwed and mostly meaning the best, but still.

Granted, they hopefully fixed some of the process issues.

As for people saying UM = amazing quality, I'm not sure that's a differentiating point anymore. How many companies can't make decent acrylic moulds nowadays?

lol yeh "alleged" was a bad choice of words. Maybe they are trying to run before learning to walk. I hope that's not the case with the platform pure.  It would be a shame if they make another great new product but haven't worked out a better system of quality control. I suspect that the fact that they've moved to a new location means that they grew too fast and their original setup couldn't handle all the extra orders.

Only one company matches the craftsmanship of UM and thats Heir Audio. When you have a reputation for excellent craftsmanship you can charge premiums and people will still purchase the item.

That is a bold statement, and one I can't say I agree with.

Well, maybe Fitear meets or exceeds those even but I largely agree.  A UM shell is quite a lovely thing to behold and the Heirs seem to be the real deal.  I love my UERM and ES5 but the craftsmanship is not at those levels nor are they below well done.  There's just that extra level of refinement and attention to detail from the other 3.  I'm sure there's others but they are definitely not all created equally.

Let me qualify that by stating it applies only to acrylic CIEMs and to products that are accessible by the general public.

One example that would be excluded from comparison would be FitEar as without a trustworthy middleman in Japan you cannot purchase CIEMs from them.

Speaking of which anyone know a fun loving and trustworthy Japanese resident who would be willing to act as a go between and wouldn't charge a small fortune for his/her services? I'm still trying to figure out how some people are getting FitEar Customs.

If we are talking about artwork, that is one thing, but the shell quality is another.  I only have a few acrylic shells that I would consider sub-par, and some companies that are widely available have exceptional shell quality.  Now, artwork is something very different...

I don't think he meant most others are sub par, just that those had excellent build quality.  That was my take, could be wrong.

All I am saying is that there are more than 2 manufacturers I would consider excellent, thats all.  I think Cassadian does contribute a lot, I just thought that statement was rather bold.

I certainly agree with that, a bit hyperbolic.

I also didn't agree w/ the other post seemingly inferring all acrylic shells were equivalent.

My last post about shells (at least in this thread hopefully)...

Acrylic shells aren't created equal, but I am impressed with a large majority of the manufacturers, especially ones from Asia.
