MSB Analog DAC? (Review p3) - Page 2

Despite the wallet control, I just added on the Analog power base.  Good news is there's not much else to upgrade for me besides maybe adding wifi control down the line.

Good thing you weren't tempted by that used DAC IV... How tight is their pricing, do they discount (or is that at the discretion of the dealer)?

Very tight pricing.  Dealer told me razor thin margins specifically on MSB and especially on the Analog DAC.  MSB won't even let their dealers sell their demo/floor models.  If you want to find great dealer discounts, there are some out there on PS Audio, EMM, and Meitner, possibly Bricasti.  If you want cheap MSB then used on Audiogon or the like is the best bet.  I tried putting a WTB on Audiogon for an Analog DAC but got nothing, I haven't seen a single unit has hit the used market yet.

Due to some requests, posting some pictures up here:

This is the best DAC I have ever owned or auditioned with my own equipment.  Tremendous clarity and transparency with minimal brightness, exactly what I was hoping for.

^ Extremely jealous. What source(s) are you feeding it?

Right now primarily using my variety of Mac-age at home.  Have a UMT inbound whenever their CNC gets set up for it and will route through that via the MSB link system.

Hey, nice stack you have there. So much for not bringing attention to itself (re:a'gon). I would think the chase is finally over with this one.

Thanks.  Only problem is, I know there are products higher up the line for MSB.  I may move up the line if I continue to enjoy this DAC as much (even though I like the looks of the Analog a lot more than the DAC IV+ series.)

I hope they get the CNC for the MSB UMT fixed ASAP so they can UPS it to you ASAP....

TMA man, TMA.

Just showed my wife the pictures you posted, and told her I had to have it.

She just nodded at my speaker system to say 'go ahead, sell them and do what you want', sigh...

Hey, leave the TMA out of this!

As much beef as I have with the TMA (dispute over the use of black t-shirts in performance art,) TMA = Too many acronyms.

Golf, if your sophies choice is choosing between a nice speaker rig and an Analog DAC, you aren't doing so bad in life.  That's like the best would you rather game ever.

Yeah, but you know how the commercial goes 'we want more, we want more'.

Congrats on that purchase, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't envious in the least wink.gif.

But I am confused, I thought I read your line about MSB not being much of a value proposition (a couple days back discussing dacs or source for the 009)?

I'd be looking forward to additional impressions (like what you wrote on the ecp amps)! You're using the electra/009 downstream right? Or you have the bhse/007 too (I wouldn't be surprised smily_headphones1.gif ).

Anyhow, impressions are pretty scarce on this ladder dac so really appreciating your posts, however mean they are wink.gif.
