Ultrasone dj1 vs. shure srh-750dj

Hi all,

Debating between these two phones.

I have the Panasonic Htf600's driven by a p-51 and would like a bit more low bass.

I love vocal trance, and are looking for clear detailed bass that is not bloated and does not muddy the mids. I also am not a fan of strong treble.

Has anyone compared these two phones?

Vocal trance sounds better on the HFI 580 / DJ1.

 

The bass impact and presentation of the DJ1 exceeds that of the SRH750DJ. The latter are more reserved in the low-end.

 

As for the mid-range, both are quite decent, with neither being a tad worse than the other. On the treble side of things, however, the DJ1 is certainly more sparkly and can be a little harsh as times.

 

Basically, if you count the sum of the parts, I would recommend the Ultrasone cans. They are really good for EDM.

I tried the HTF-600 and own the SRH750, I can't comment on the DJ1 though. I don't like much the mids of the HTF, they seem kind of synthetic, while the SRH750 gets them right but just a bit recessed, like slightly behind the rest of the music. This is common with fun signatures, just none of them would be my first choice for vocal bliss. As for bass I'm not sure the SRH750 has more, but I like impacts (mis-bass) better on them, even though it doesn't have that huge sub-bass most DJs like - it extends low, but doesn't rattle your skull. As for comfort and build quality I have to say the HTF-600 is better.
