I want to plug my sennheisers with the detachable cable to my mobile phone and be able to answer calls. all i can find are control talk cables and lapel mic adapters.

I would fancy to not have a monster cable or a razer electra cable.

Paul, tell us which headphones you own or planning to use?

Not sure it matters too much, just want an inline microphone with a pass through. I don't care about remote buttons. Preferably male (3.5mm trs) for the headphones, but female works too, or it could even be soild with no cables. Just so long as it's a plug in microphone, and I can plug headphones into it. Something cheap, but not 'it takes six months to ship from China and falls apart in two weeks' cheap. Something that I can get in New Zealand, without paying $70usd shipping from amazon. So I'm kinda hoping there's some 'known' brand that makes them, so that I might have a chance of finding something locally, or online with reasonable shipping.

As for what I'm using, since you asked: "Howard Leight 'sync' earmuffs". They have a 3.5mm female headphone port. They aren't good headphones, and I'm sure you could find better earmuffs. But they're inexpensive and block out most screaming children and traffic noise, which is all I bought them for. But then I realized if I could leave them on to make or receive phone calls that would be awesome, since usually I'm on a busy, noisy street when I need to make a phone call.

But, the phone I use turns off the mic with just headphones plugged in, hence the need for an inline microphone. The phone is a Samsung E3210b, nothing fancy and I suppose almost obsolete, but it's only a month out of the cardboard and does what I need it to.

I use a sansa clip zip for actually listening to music on the go. It would be better if I didn't have to carry two different cables for the phone and the mp3 player, so I'm hoping I can plug the trrs into the mp3 player without issue. In retrospect this is probably actually the more important question I should be asking.

Vmoda offers a cable with mic but don't know if they ship to New Zealand . In your case the Chinese option doesn't sound that bad...

Meelectronics offer a decent cable

Ultimate Ears in New Zealand should have a replacement cable for the UE6000 (a 3.5mm cable with MIC) Contact them to check

Looks like vmoda will ship a single cable this far for $5usd shipping. Probably a better cable than I could get from china, and I favor USPS over China Post.
