Review: Philips CitiScape Uptown (Updated Sept 18, 2012) - Page 19

I think like 95% have channel imbalance. Best thing to do is go to the settings on your player and compensate for the imbalance.

Other options at this price include:
Custom One Pro
M80
K167
M50
Ultrasones

if i replace the cable  will the imbalance go away?

Based on what he said, yes. Look the PG before and you'll see some pics.

If so, were there any issues with your volume rocker? Thinking of buying these...

Ensure you check for cosmetic defects if buying from this seller. I got two black versions (5905BK) that had obvious surface issues with the band that goes across the top arch. I would consider them factory seconds because of it. On top of this, sloppy service and needing to chase them for a replacement means I won't buy from them again.

Anyone else bought from CE_Clearance from Ebay? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Citiscape-Uptowns-Grey-PLUS-BONUS-Music-Colors-Earbuds-White-/271226622470?pt=AU_headphone&hash=item3f265dd206

Wondering if they are factory seconds at that price, as brendale says.

If my replacements did not have the same issue, I would have said it was a one off and not had a problem (these things happen). But poor service, where I had to chase them to send me the replacement, and then having the replacement with the exact same issue is what has raised major red flags for me. Perhaps it's just the black stock - I'm not sure.

Fair enough. Multiple ones having issues is a pretty big red flag, but I'm still tempted. Might get it from Amazon instead for $85 or so.

Hi

I have the same headphone and I'm really not satisfied with bass...
I was thinking that it may be caused by the slider
The slider is something where the signal has to go through, so it is a resistance.
Anyway, I don't know how to explain clearly but I think it would go louder without
Would you know if it's possible to remove that?

:)

These are not bassy headphones. Look elsewhere if you want more bass.

Agreed, you are not going to 'feel' the bass on these.

Bass and volume are different things. The slider won't impact on the bass, just the volume (and since it's super sensitive, maybe the left/right channel separation).

Guys is it true that the majority of the uptowns have unbalanced sound (higher or lower on one of the sides)?

I was thinking of looking past the flimsy cable and the remote and get them but if this is true than i am out.....

yes.

Thats not good.... not good at all.... I was king of hopping for the uptowns to be my next portable headphones and a worthy replacement to my previous akg's but it seems that there  are much more cons than pros on the uptowns.....

Damn..... I was really close of getting them.... ;(

only con is the channel imbalance, which you can adjust on your ipod in the settings.  Its barely a problem with me.  They are beat however by the akg k167 in sound quality at least to me.  Only problem is people around here are endlessly complaining about the build and how they break easily.  Mine broke a little too.

You should just get the uptown or the v-moda m80.
