I wish I had extra 650$ now too :) Comes to my mind ... that it would be probably hard to explain to friends or family why do I have 2 of these :D

Also, I'am just testing iPhone app Accudio Pro from Golden Ears and there is "flat" EQ for HD700, sounded kind of wierd for a frist time, but I'am starting to like it. Just telling if anybody would be curious :)

Find my HD700 and HE-500 compliment each other very well. I keep both because between the two, I can listen to ANYTHING and love it. If possible, I'd budget for both!

On the same boat as you..

Just waiting for the Amperex orange globes for my Lyr.

Bookmark my new site Audio360.org because we will have something very nice to go with your HD700.  I can't give more details right now, but I already have it in my hands so we are not far from public release.

[Preface: first post at headfi.org]
Just purchased HD 700.  Just one word:

Wow!
smily_headphones1.gif

Soundstage is quite good; listening to CDs playing in a roughly 10-year old, Sony surround sound AV system, I'm hearing excellent tonality and very good separation between instruments.  If there are issues or problems with certain higher frequencies, I'm not able to hear it.  This could well be me or my ears; I'm no longer young.

Comparing the actual listening experience to some of the earlier reviews of the HD 700s, it's just my gut feel but Sennheiser may have made some changes to these headphones since initial release.  Over the past year or so, I've read many forum posts and reviews.  Looking back, some of the latest reviews here -- including in this set of HD 700 Appreciation posts -- and elsewhere helped me a great deal with my choice.

I debated quite a bit about the purchase of the HD 650 in lieu of the HD 700.  But the latest price drop by Sennheiser was too good to pass up.

I'll be very interested to see what, if anything, Sennheiser releases to replace the HD 700.

I'm looking for recommendations on source gear, including a DAC and amp; but, from my earlier reading at head-fi, I think I need to search elsewhere (although if you want to throw out some ideas, that would be great).

Thanks to all who posted before me; without some of the encouraging words found here, I might have picked differently.

The HD 700 is a winner.

ps  I'm moving up from a Sennheiser HD 280 (which I use at work a fair bit) so, for me, this is quite a change.

Not that I'm assuming that my case is any more than my own, but I find that they do get somewhat sibilant when I'm listening at a high volume. At a "normal" listening level, I've never had a problem. I bought mine first week out.

And, fwiw, I paid full price at the time and have never looked back. I could have saved a few $$$ by waiting for the price to drop, but I've enjoyed them so much since their release that I wouldn't trade that money for a minute of listening enjoyment.

I was thinking today... anybody knows what's the average lifetime of these headphones ? :)

While inquiring about my next headphone to get..... could not resist Razordog's promo with an additional $100 off the $649, with reasonable shipping to Canada!!!!
Seeing I like my Grados and HD600s and then re-reading Jude's original preview http://www.head-fi.org/t/589738/sennheiser-hd-700-officially-unveiled-at-ces-2012 sort of pushed me over the edge.

Understood in full.

It's just my opinion (and my knowledge of the market is not nearly as robust as many head-fi commenters) but I think these were well-priced by Sennheiser at the initial release.  With the latest price drop (and, from Post 763 by Rob80b, it looks like Razordog is offering a further rebate), however, the HD 700s are a fantastic buy, in my opinion; very, very difficult to pass up.

Ok, now that they're 650 they have to be one of the best values out there, right!?  I'm just praying that my wife buys me a pair for Christmas....there's always hope.  But seriously, I've enjoyed my hd580's since 2006 and I'm ready for a fun upgrade.  Hope they pair well with my Burson Soloist.  Cheers!
