Tubes are not like light bulbs no they can last much longer. It depends on how much you use them but most should last thousands of hours of use. I've seen some rated for 10,000 hours.Maybe i could add a Little dot mk2 as they are cheap once i get more into audio.
Then mess with tubes. How long is the life of a tube? or are they like a light bulb can just go at any time.
I do like the wait they light up.

Im looking for mainly gaming and youtube use some music.
I was looking at just getting the cheap £200 MAGNI 2 Combo but then im thinking of going for the next set up MAGNI 2 UBER combo £300
The VALHALLA 2 is £320 so quite a big jump then £150 for a DAC. Want to get the best Value for the money i spend
Since you are in Europe, take a look at the Feliks amps. While I haven't heard any they have quite a large following for the Elise which is quite a bit more than your budget but the Espressivo is the same price as the Valhalla2. I wouldn't recommend a Magni2 only because some say its a bit on the brighter side and paired with the HD-700 that might not be a good thing. There are a few who have the HD-700 and use them with SS amps, usually warmer amps like G109 and H-10 but I've notice more tend to like tubes.
Hd-700 does gaming quite well, when I was into gaming I used a STX sound card and the HD-700, great positional audio and for watching movies it give a pretty good surround sound due to the wide sound stage.

I 100% recommend this combo.
Fire up something like Overwatch with the headphone mode on and it's AMAZING.

Yeah ive been using the built in sound card and dose work well.
But want a full time amp just to power these bad boys
I would not like to mess with tubes yet as im still a total noob to all of this. So would like to stick to a SS then go for tubes in the future.
Seems Schiit has a EU seller site. So can direct from them.

If your gaming and use the dsp effects I would just go for a amp.
How would a AMP work on its own? i thought you need the DAC also?

Your soundcard has a DAC and an AMP. You wouldn't have any music otherwise.
But they generally aren't the highest quality.
An external DAC bypasses your soundcard and does a better job before feeding the signal to your amp.

So i could use the SoundCard as my DAC and connect the amp to that saving me money.
How much better would a http://schiit.eu.com/dacs/modi-2-usb-dac or http://schiit.eu.com/dacs/modi-2-uber
Be better than my sound card https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_GENE/
Or would i have to spend a lot on a DAC to get noticeable difference?
I did see the JOTUNHEIM but i don't know if that is worth it.
I'm good with PC parts just audio and im like a fish out of water.

IMO a $100-ish DAC is plenty. It'll be better than the sound card in the mobo in the same way the HDMI out on it won't be as good as a separate GPU (just without the need for as much horsepower for audio). Something like the Jotunheim or whatever is, in my view, insane overkill. NwAvGuy used to rail against the idea of spending thousands on DACs and amps and I agree. I'm using a mic interface for my DAC and a Little Dot MK2 for the amp and it's fantastic.
If your using dsp effects for 2 channel you go line out from your computer with a 1/8" to RCA cable to the amp. If you use a external dac you will not get the dsp effects. How would a AMP work on its own? i thought you need the DAC also?

When you say bright what do you mean?
When I say bright it means the highs are a little more accentuated over the other frequencies. If going with SS then look for what others say is a warm sounding SS amp for the HD-700, like a Project Polaris, Gustard H-10, G-109. Most Schiit amps are neutral to a touch on the bright side to me.
You Asus motherboard audio section is quite good (had 2 ROG boards in the past) so the improvement in getting a dedicated DAC will not be very noticeable IMO so you could get by with just an amp. I used to use a STX sound card with my HD-700 for gaming, great combo.
I would get the HD-700 first, use it for a while and then think about DACs and amps once you know a little more about what your sound signature preferences are.

there's a problem with that though. the HD700s sound pretty lacklustre without at least a decent amp. imo i think he should get an amp together,

The amp section of most ROG/Maximus mobos are actually pretty good, better than many cheap amps IMO. If he were just using the Realtek chips of most mobos then I would recommend getting an amp but since he has something decent to start with and seems to want to spend as little as possible I suggested going without an amp first.

After much testing the best combo of tubes in my dac are Valvo CCa Heerlen`s and 1966 Mullards E88CC in my amp. Better than Pinched Waists and Siemens CCa (my 2 holy grails). One picky can imo. Trying out Telefunken E188CC`s in my dac and Mullards in my amp. Decided on keeping the cans. With tweaking they are awsome cans.

I own the HD700s had them for over a month so wanted to get a nice Amp set up to drive them.
So i could do a line out to a AMP and use the DAC from my MOBO sounds good.
I can just get a nice amp then. I was going for Schiit as i can get it in the UK. Other amps you said i cant seem to find in the UK.
