Crutchfield. I already returned them. It was quite unpleasant to listen to.

Hi,

I have just ordered the HD 700's as an upgrade to the HD 650's. My 650's have zu Mobius upgrade cables so my question is are these cables compatible with the 700's? If not can anybody recommend a suitable upgrade cable based on experience?

The 700 uses a 2.5mm connector similar to the momentum and hd598. I still use the stock hd700 cable.

Thanks for the reply.

My HD 700's came this morning. First impressions are these are a noticeable improvement on the HD 650's, one listen to Dark and Long from Underworlds Dubbnobasswithmyhead confirmed that immediately. One thing I did notice though, these are quite a bit louder than the HD 650's. I assume that it will be the 700 headphones themselves that are louder, and not the Zu Mobius upgrade cable I was using on my 650's was causing the 650's to sound quieter? eg would the 650's have sounded louder with stock cable - cant test as I no longer have the stock cable.

Just finished my first DIY cable.

Components:

one pair of 2.5mm HD700 plugs from eBay
Neutrik 1/4" plug
22ft of BTG Audio 26AWG Silver plated copper cable.

Roughly 65usd for a complete cable ain't much. It is not the prettiest one, but atleast it works :dt880smile:

That's really not bad at all for a custom cable, either on price or looks.  The only reason I paid less for my short HD700 cable was it was an auction nobody but me noticed, and not just a standard buy it now price on eBay.  Good job!
