Should I get a Fiio E17 for a SRH 940?

I'm about to buy the SRH 940. I'll be using it with a Macbook Pro for music listening and production, and with an iPhone 4S for music listening on the go. Will an E17 be a significant improvement over the Macbook Pro's DAC and headphone out? How about compared to the headphone out of the iPhone?

The E17's DAC and amplifier will work fine with the Macbook Pro, but the iPhone can not use the DAC on the E17, just the amplifier part.

Usually the Apple products come with decent DACs, so save a few dollars and buy the Fiio E11.
