DT 990 is open.

OK--looking back I think that it's mentioned in your third post.  Points are that open cans almost always have a sound stage advantage and the only cans OP was considering (for good reason with regard to his needs I suspect) were closed cans.

i know, thats why i didnt suggest it. i was simply making a comparison between my dt990 and my z1000.

I believe the ZX700 and 7510 are the same aside the cable being coiled on the 7510. If so I have the ZX700 at home and have listened to the KOSS TB's. the TB had better mids in my opinion and is tighter and more accurate all round. The ZX700 is a bit more bassy and V shaped signature wise than the Koss but not as V shaped as the z1000/7520 headphones, it is definitely more comfortable than the stock earpads of the Koss though and much easier to drive straight from portable source.
