Agreed - maybe if the color was toned down, that blue just doesn't work, and the shape is just... eh.

I like all of their Maniac lineup including the IEM's looks wise. I look forward to reading reviews and comments on all of them. The Raver line up does look a bit to glitzy for me. I also wish their on ear models were in something other than wireless and noise cancelling as they look like they might actually be comfortable.

So went to J&R today after work and got the only stock pair of AH-D600 which they received from their warehouse just 30 minutes before my arrival. They also got a pair of D7100 and they probably left 2 more pairs of D600 it their warehouse in Maspeth. I gave them a short time of listening time using Cowon  A3 player (I'm gonna use them with it only, I have my D7000 for home use so after few days of burn-in will compare them on my computer setup) an now they are burning in for 8 hours already. First of all BE AWARE that short cable looking like the one common stock cable with built-in remote WORKS PROPERLY ONLY WITH APPLE DEVICES (it even emphasized in manual) so you are forced to use longer cable which looks like D5000/7000 stock cable unless you ready to wait and spend at least about $200 for aftermarket cable. . If you expecting put on and forget comfort of D500/7000 while having small and narrow head where fore head slightly wider then bottom of your face forget about it thanks to their beats like design but it definitely much better than hustling DT1350 which need finding proper fit and seal. Now very first sound impressions. Bass is tight punchy and not overpowering but i will hold my opinion about sub-bass depth until they get at least 50 hours of burn-n and i will try them on my computer system. They have great mids and highs but highs may be a little bit bright at first but definitely much less than T70p which i heard at the recent NYC meet but hopefully they become better after burn-in so people who don't like T70p or DT990 bright highs should try D600. They have very good isolation so you will not hear people around you but if riding in NYC subway you will still hear recorded announcements at least when no music playing but will test with music on few our later on my way to work.   

I'm guessing the D600 and D7100 uses the same 50mm driver.

D600 have 50mm drivers but are they identical to D7100 i don't know

Probably Tyll can fill us in on that when he has both for review. I'm just guessing based on their specs and previous trend.

D2000 and 5000 same driver.

 

Hows the D600 so far? Any chance of beating the good old D7000?

So far i really like the sound but as i said early no comparison to D7000 until minimum 50 hours of burn-in but still not decided if gonna keep them since will have to get shorter aftermarket cable

did you take a listen of d7100 ?

I am fairly interested to how these cans sound compared to the DX000 line.

I'll have a D7100 tomorrow and have a D5000 although it is markl modded. I hated the sound of the stock D5000 although I suspect I probably didn't have the perfect amp for it at the time. 

 

My experience is the 3rd band causes an issue of sounding weird when used with a normal amp when pushed all the way in but if you pull the plug out slightly you get the proper connection, I do this with all my iPhone centric headphones and IEM's when using my desktop amp.

Can you tell me how bright the D-600 are compared to the D2000 line? How does the sound compare?

I think it's time to start a separate thread for the D600 and D7100 with impressions, reviews etc.
