While I like having a flat EQ, I don't want it to be completely analytical. I also don't want the D400's to be bass-monsters with no other strengths, considering they're advertising them as having amazing bass, not advertising much else.

Sounds good to me... Flat bass down to 5hz, no recessed midrange and no treble spike at 7-10khz = win

The D2000 were too fatiguing and also the midrange was too distant

Every single headphone manufacturer in existence says they have a 'ruler flat eq'.  The closest I've ever encountered was the Paradox Mod t50RPs and those were an unsettling experience.

Yes, I'm thinking Denon is selling their Music Maniac line short when they emphasize flat EQ.

So Denon's web site finally has their new headphone lineup posted.  From the description, the Urban Ravers will have a V curve as "slightly" boosted treble is mentioned along with "brutile" bass.  I won't make the mistake of buying rapper cans again, so I am holding out hope for the AH-D600 and will A/B against the M-100.  I will A/B the winner of those two against the PSB to determine my personal "winner".  If the PSB wins, I will wait for the white unamped version.  Regardless, I need to get past this headphone decision thing and get a life.

Same thing here - why did I have to start looking for one now? Why couldn't I have waited a week or three?

Upon release? $1200 (MSRP).

That's more than $200 over the price of a Audeze LCD-2-Rev. 2.  If they expect to pull in anywhere near MSRP, this can better hang the moon.

The D7000 had a MSRP of $999 and I did not pay anywhere near that for mine.

MSRP$1200 in US? That's good! They're selling them in the shops from 1st Aug at approx USD$1378 (¥107,820).

I don't mind the looks & if they sound "up there" with the big boys, I don't see anything wrong with the pricing.

I agree.. :)

I see that ABC Warehouse in MI is a authorized Denon retailer, time to see if they discount the new headphone line. smily_headphones1.gif

I have an informal estimate from Denon of mid-August for the new headphone line release in the US.  If you purchase direct from Denon, they have a 30-day return on headphones and they will even pay return shipping.

They sound pretty confident in its performance.
