Fiio E17?

I've been looking into the Dennon d7000's or the Audez LCD-2's and I would like to know if the Fiio E17 amp would work well with them? I would also appreciate it if you could recommend other portable amps (<$250). I will also be using an iPhone.

I owned the E17 for a month and paired it with my Q701. It's a very versatile all-around product and produces great sound for the price (by which I mean $140, not $200).

BUT if you're going to spend $700 or so on headphones, then should you really be hooking them up to a $140 portable amp/DAC?

What would you recommend then? Larger non-portable DAC/Amp?

If your headphones are non-portable, then it doesn't make a lot of sense to go for portability alone. Anyways the question is about performance, not form factor. For $250, you can go for the O2/ODAC combo (semi-portable but pretty good for the price), in my opinion.

It would work very nicely with the d7k. But for orthos, I feel the lcd-2 is just out of it's reach, just barely though. I think that it would sound decent. My he400's sound great with the e17 but the lcd-2 is a bit harder to drive.

I think theres still a 3G Arrow in the FS forum for around $200.

I would first ask someone WITH both the E17 and LCD's and D5K's before getting any amp to make sure it is driven well. Not ask but reading about it is fine as well.

I haven't been in the forums for a while but there are so many users with E17's here!

Why is the price of the E17 fluctuating so much?

I see it used to sell for around 140 to 150 USD. It's selling on Amazon for 200. For that price, I'm not really sure if I want to pull the trigger on it. (need to buy from Amazon too. No other choice.

Not sure if I should just go for the E11 or if I need the DAC. (Main use will be mostly Laptop/iPhone.)

That is because FiiO products' final price are set by individual retailer.

Well yeah I get that, but 60 bucks?

I've seen it for as low as 139, and it used to be 149 on Amazon.

So the bigger question is: Is it worth it at 200 for mostly portable use from an iPhone, and sometimes as a DAC/AMP from a laptop? Headphones would be Senn 598. Music is mostly acoustic.

For $200, I'll opt for Leckerton Audio UHA-4 personally. E17 is great buy on $150, but as purely an amp/ USB DAC, it isn't the best under $200.

UHA-4 SOUNDS FOR YOU MORE DETAILED OR MORE BEAUTIFULL 'THEN THE FIIO E17 ?

No need for all the cap'ed letters - Yes, UHA-4 is an overall better sounding amp. Shouldn't be surprised since it is also a more expensive amp that is dedicated toward amp function and not as multi-tasking as E17.
