This is my first post here, I’ve been lurking for a while but thought it’s time to get off my ass. So as any gear-head would do, after my eh2200 broke, I took it apart.
I already have a Sony MDR-V6 coming to replace it, but I thought it’s also a good chance to “mod/fix” the old eh2200 enclosure. I think I need some head-fi expertise to get this project going.
The wiring and condition of my old EH2200 headband and ear cups are still in good condition so I want to only replace the drivers inside.
The wiring contacts that Sennheiser uses
I’m not certain what size they are, but they seem to be 35mm - 40mm in diameter (please check photos). I basically want to swap them out with some other capsules – I’ve been scouring the net/ebay trying to find ones of similar size, but I have no idea which models have the same sized capsules with that same wiring contacts. I'd rather not solder - but I don't mind doing it.
This is how the assembly looks. Driver clips into an enclosure and the enclosure snaps into the main chassis.
I thought maybe I could use this chance and upgrade the drivers as well – replace them with something stronger. Do you guys have any suggestions on what drivers I can replace these with and where I can buy them?
