Also, I had ppl at OCN tell me that a Z68 2500k might have been better, since I'm not getting the 3570k. Apprently the 3550 does not OC to well, and the 3.0's on the Gigabyte Board are a little un-nessicary. They may be right but, the Ivy Bridge processors run better then the Sandy Bridge ones, I found a compartive chart some where, so it's not bad that I went Z77 i5 3550. I'm at my $900 budget anyways so no biggie

Paypal is evil if you don't follow their rules, even the smallest ones that seem insignificant.

The reason I chose the 3550 for you was because you probably won't OC and the extra features that help with virtual machines would come in handy. I think you should have went with the 3450 though because you don't really need the extra features for security and virtualization/virtual machines.

although what tools do I need to build it... step dad is sick so he might not be able to build it when it comes in

Didn't think so. The i5-3550 will serve you well.

Something elese I didn't think about, I don't know how my bank works exactly with processing stuff. I think it's every day, yesterday I placed 2 orders, and then cancelled them both, the first order came into my account as a Memo, at 12:06 it was removed and my avaliable balance was back up to where it needed to be, then the second order came in, and that's the one I'm waiting on today... so hopefully it'll clear out tonight. But worse case scenario is I have to wait till Tuesday, which if that's the case I can still purchase my order as I have till Thursday.

On that note MEASURE 3 TIMES CUT once <.< I measured once and Cut 3 times >.>

Haha, slow down. You don't much much to instal all this. All you really need is the wrist strap and a phillips head screw driver...of adequate size. Other tools will make your job easier.

This is mine. iPod for reference. There are a few things not pictured like a soldering iron and some other things.

I need to buy some tools, especially for sleeving and making my own cables for case mods down the road. I'm not going to do anything too complex. Just some cable sleeving and small cuts.

I might do vitrual machines, I've looked into it with my current system actually. As I wouldn't mind being able to learn Linuix, so I'm farmillar with them. Plus the i5 3550 is a little faster so that's never a bad thing

Yea i currently have 0 tools, and I need to start playing Xeno Blade b4 I OCD for the next 2 hours... I hate spending money without reasearch... hate wondering if I can rely on other people to do stuff [like if mom can find the OS] *sigh* It'll be worth it when this is all over, even if the thing sits there for a few weeks and only runs Head-Fi it will be a testment to a well planned, well reaserached purchase

But I have a feeling I'll be running some pretty heavy stuff on it in no time. Although that also means I have to spend time getting all the Software I'm using now, and I might have issues with getting my Cracked Need for Speed .iso's to install, but on the + side I'll be able to play NFSW so that'll ease my mind, and even better I might just Vitrual Machine a wins XP if I can't get stuff to work on Win 7, so who knows. Just so long as the options are open I can worry less <.<

Look at OCN's linux guide in the linux section. Very helpful to help you get started.

I have a screwdriver with interchangeable tips. Good enough for now I guess.

I'm not really satisfied. :P lol

If you just need to get started then I can help you with that. But im sure the OCN guide is better for more in depth stuff.

Have you been researching what weve been saying? It would be good to. smily_headphones1.gif

I didnt like some of the advice some people on OCN gave you. They probably werent fully looking at benchmarks and current prices like we were.

Do you currently have a laptop or desktop mshenay?

I see im mr worry wort wort now. Ehh fits me. Im asian. Its in my blood.

@hybrid

Is your own rig still on track? I had my first full rig built in 8th grade as well. It was just meh but hey. Great exp smily_headphones1.gif

I've had a Desktop and a Laptop, I used to have an old Toshiba laptop which ran better than my desktop but I burned the gpu up xD, sold it just b4 i died on me to some girl in school, she never gamed or did any kinds of videos so good for her

No still not reasraching build tips, just trying to finalize the parts for build, then onto building it self

12:05 am memo is still there, will check in about 5 mins

let's hope it goes away <.<

*sigh* it seems banks are closed on Sunday yea? Meaning I'll have to wait till Tuesday -.-

Just checked out a video of "Eye Finiety" ... that's pretty crazy <.< running a game across three monitors! How doe sit work exactly? I though games only run at a certain resulition... to have more than one monitor would be an higher res... I doubt there are games out there that natively support 3000x1200+... but maybe I'm wrong! Still looked pretty cool

You are wrong smily_headphones1.gif eye finety is tricky. Instead of making your computer 3 SEPERATE monitors it stretches or makes it all into one. So with it active your desktop windows start button if you dont change it will be on the far left monitor and drop up bar on the right.

You should have 3 same model monitors with a very thin bezel for it to work well and at least 3 monitors connected to an able gpu. You are talking 5x by 3k resolution

Somebody over at OCN found a great tool that helps determine what linux (or linuxes would be best for you). Really useful.

I didn't either. I feel as if some people over there think everything must be centered around overclocking.

It is. I'm thinking about building it this summer, hopefully. As much as I want to wait for Haswell, DDR4, and Kepler 2nd Generation (700 series. I'm excited for Maxwell too though because they said they would double the performance of Kepler at least. I just hope they can live up to that), I shouldn't.

This is basically the easiest way to explain it. Eyefinity is just gaming across multiple monitors. I honestly hate it though because the bezels ruin the experience which is why I prefer resolution over quantity. I want a 30" IPS really bad, but I can't.

Yeh I would avoid Alienware like the plague! Its crazy the amount they charge

I would deffinatly go for the custom self built route...especially look for used stuff, I managed to build a PC for £600 with used parts that plays BF3 on ultra with 60+ FPS and when I specced it up on alienwares website it came to £2000 ! Thats crazy, i would seriously consider GTX460 SLi they are soooo cheap now and they scale near to 100% are super stable, they have better performance than a GTX580 which is insane for the cost IMO

Good luck mate, just remember you dont need to spend an arm and a leg to max out pretty much any new release, and high compared with ultra is VERY similar its actually hard to tell the difference!

Yo we spent $900 for a rig to play BF3 on ultra 2560x1200 ;3, but still gatta pay for it. Which means waiting till tonight AGAIN for the money to clear back into my account *sigh*

Let's hope that by Tommorow it's back again or else I'm in deep waters :[

xD, yea I forgot how long this thread was,

But we tweaked the purchase Saturday, and since then I've been fighting off cancelled orders and trying to pay for my current order, I should have the funds back in my account today. My first cancelled order was removed form my account Saturday, then yesterday the second cancelled order came in, my bank is closed Sunday so no updates, so tonight it should clear

Well good luck mate!
