Yeah I already grabbed a Dowland album, it was excellent. 

 

Never liked 4 Seasons and is all I really knew Vivaldi for. I really like this guitar version though. Maybe I just love guitars...

I first saw this thread and was thought "I know! Wagner!", then I saw you want romantic sounding classical music, not music from the romantic era. Oh well.  Anyway, have you thought about the Concerto de Aranjuez? It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like you're asking for

Well I mean classical in the broader sense, not the classical era in particular. Music from the Romantic era is fine. I already have that piece from an earlier recommendation, thx.

Ludovico Einaudi, Roberto Cacciapaglia, and Fabrizio Paterlini are all great modern composers.

Another good option, mostly unknown composer.
