Thinking about getting an Archos 48 (HDD version)

Thread Starter

I'm currently using an iPod touch 2g with Etymotic hf3 earphones (I know that's pathetic).  I'm thinking about the Archos 48 as a portable media center, mainly for music, since it can fit in my pocket.  I like it particularly for its file compatibility in the audio and video category; its high capacity means that I could put as many FLAC audio files on it as I would ever need.  I would like to know how the sound quality from these is, in comparison to the iPod touch.  If you have any other things to say about it or, or anything else, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I know I'm resurrecting this, but I'm also interested in the same player.  I was considering buying a 256 SSD and an old gen 5 iPod and rockboxing it, but if this has similar sound quality to an iPod it may be the way to go.  Anybody here have experience with these or know how they sound?
