What headphones to pair with MS1i? - Page 2

Sennheisers definitely make for a good complement to Grados (Alessandros) with their very different sound signature.

Your Alessandro MS1 and a used pair (lower price) of Sennheiser HD 600's would be a nice set to address most music genres et al.

Well, now that the Senns HD558 arrived and I have spent some time with them (drivin' them with my Fiio E9), I can say that these are very very good headphones: warmer than Alessandros, they provide a more relaxed sound, without been muddy at all. Wide soundstage, I find them optimal for gaming too. Female vocals are wonderful, with clarity and silkness at the same time. Even with rock and similar genres they sound very well, obviously not as forward and engagin' as with Alessandros, but it's a nice laid-back, musical sound. The comfort is terrific too!

At the moment, I think I've found my ideal configuration with MS1i and HD558, so I wish to thank who helped me with the choice! ;)

Glad to hear that you are pleased.  You certainly have two very different and quality sound signatures from which to chose.

I've demo-ed the Grado sr325i's and I absolutely loved them for metal as well.

However, I own the Sennheisers HD598 and agree that they are worlds apart and provide different strengths. The HD 598 is definitely more laid back (didn't truly understand this description until I demo-ed the 325i and other headphones) and airy.
