Headset for ~$80-160? More details inside.

An online friend of mine is interested in getting a headset, and he wants one with a microphone.

What would be some good options for a headset for gaming (fps/mmo), as well as music such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and metal.

 

I, myself, 'know' better than to be typical and like "Omg Razer headset, it must be good because it's a gaming headset by a gaming company!" or Steelseries or something. I have an Audio-Technica personally (and use a stand alone mic).

 

Perhaps preferably one to use directly into mobo or a pci/pci-e sound card; rather than going through an interface and then to the computer.

 

'Requirements':

Price ~$80-160

Has a mic

Sennheiser PC 350 would be a great choice (140$ on Amazon)

3.5 mm Jack cable.
