USB Converter or Sound Card or...

I recently purchased a Peachtree Dac-It for my desktop set-up. I am currently outputting the signal via USB from the motherboard.

 

My question is, is there a benefit to utilizing the dac's toslink or coaxial input? If so, would I be better served using a usb converter or simply getting a sound card with the preferred digital output?

 

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I don't think it benefits much. Optical is usually used when sources themselves (cd players etc) provide an optical out.

If your USB is giving problems, or you're running out of USB port, then you can look for a sound card.

USB, optical, coaxial are all digital output.

I'm guessing for all 2-channel digital output, it's all the same digital signal.
