Were on the same boat here. All my headphone rig was bought based on the reviews posted here & with my gut feel. This is not the wisest thing to do, but I dont have any other choice.

Anyway, I have the cardas & HD650 combo myself, & I'm very happy with it. But Im still lusting for that Moon Audio silver dragon. I just hope I can snag a cheap one from the For Sale forum before the year ends.

Yep, most of the countries in Europe are just not big enough to market these kind of niche products, or at least to keep them in stock Still, just makes the challenge even greater...and the hole in my wallet

Yeah I emailed drew because I don't care for red cables and asked if he could do black, which he said wasn't a problem. He could probably do blue or green as well since his other cables have those color schemes.

Hey don't you complain too much there! Only Scandinavian countries charge taxes as brutal as Brazil's.

Cheers,

Cardas update: no longer bright after break-in

I find now that the new Cardas cable for my HD650s is sounding nearly ideal. No longer does it sound bright. I've put about 300 hours of break-in at modest levels on the cables.

I have received my Zu Mobius cable and it is now being burned in as I type. I've still got quite a while before it's at "optimal" levels, at least according to what Zu says on their site. I have started another thread about my experiences with the Mobius. Hopefully, I'll be happy with my purchase.

LOL! I'll second that. I moved from Sweden to Spain recently and I can tell you that Scandinavian taxes really do suck!
Heck, import tax from outside the EU used to work out at about 30%, all in!

Love the Zu Mobius

I wanted to post a follow up after 2 weeks or so with the HD650s, Zu Mobius, Pivot mini to mini cable, TAH and iPod.

I just love this set up. I found a significant improvement in the sound. I hear a lot more detail and I would describe the sound as brighter than what I heard without the Zu cables. For me, it was clearly worth the money and the more I listen the happier I am. IMO, Zu rocks. I rip my music at 256 AAC but have some downloaded music from the Apple music store and that sounds almost as good.

Sounds real nice! I myself am still waiting for the bass to kick in with my Zu Mobius. I have clearly noticed a big improvement in detail and intrument separation after around a week or so, and the treble end has come in wonderfully--much more detailed and clear than the stock cable. It's not finished its burning-in process, I guess, because I still got much better bass than I am now. It's very anemic.

follow-up

OK... i have had my HD650's and Zu setup burning in for about a week and a half now, and finally... things are starting to look better. And the better part is coming from, yeah, I know, I can't believe it either... my iPod! Unamped, too. Which is bothering me to no end...

Basically, I have to turn my iPod's volume up to around 90% for the Senn's to sound good, but they actually sound quite remarkable considering their high impedance. This further underscores my need to get a better source to match up with my system. My source is by FAR the weakest link right now.

The bass that was missing is almost there now, I think just 24 more hours or so of burn-in will get it to where people have told me it's supposed to be. I'm excited, because I was worried for a while that my purchase wasn't justified. But, now, I'm starting to hear what the whole fuss was about.
