Hm, after looking up the disputing a gift bit, apparently I can't do anything with paypal (the last time I pay with gift), so I will most likely do a chargeback on my credit card, which will cause me to most likely lose my paypal account (paypal hates it when you do a chargeback).

I'm okay with this, though I will see how long I have to do a credit card chargeback and see if I can give the guy a little more time.

Wow that is quite a collection of complaints. I thought Alakazam was a lone incident.

As I said in my case, I didn't quite like Justin's headphones and my brother and I took it up as a project to fix them and did so (thank you to a certain ridiculously long 400+ pg thread!). Justin and I didn't end on a good note communications wise either, but I did get my items which is why I insisted he isn't a scammer. This long list of complaints is rather unprecedented though and I'm left kinda speechless.

I am really hoping you guys get your items too. You all have a hell of a lot more patience than I do so I tip my hat to you all and hope everything works out for you guys eventually.

It raises an important point. Headfi need to stop handing out 'member of the trade' monikers to just anyone. The members should prove they have a legitimate business on some level with the administration team. Limited UK companies have a VAT number or company registration number. a verified address would even be a start.

Sure, It would give the administration team more work to handle, but considering they seem to spend an inordinate amount of time chasing other meaningless things, it might be more useful to the community in the long run.

I know that inexperienced users may see a member of the trade title under a user and feel they have been vetted so they are therefore safe to deal with. This is clearly far from the case.

I recently bought some tf10 from jschristian44 and he said he shipped them out. He told me to send the mooney as a gift, but I did not pay as gift. Luckly though so If he tries to scam me I can dispute.

I had just remembered that he told me if he couldn't pay me by May 22nd that he wouldn't be able to pay till September because he's in Alaska the whole time, so if you paid him and he left already I don't know if any of your guys are going to see headphones unless he took them all with him.

An open letter to Justin Smith:

Justin, quite a few people trusted you and paid you hundreds of dollars for your services; some wants your DIY modified headphones, some want your DIY headphone amplifiers; and some wants your DIY cable. I actually paid you three times (with a total of just under $200). I got your DIY headphone amplifier, which did not work until I got someone else to repair it for me (thanks Starfire!). I shipped you a pair of headphone drivers (with a street price of $400) for your modification service, and you have got them plus my money for three months now without delivering what you promised. I shipped you connectors to do a DIY headphone cable, and again you have not got it done. I have waited three months for you to fulfill my orders, and all you did was keep telling me to be patient. Now you are in Alaska. I just do not see you finishing the phones and cable that you owe me—considering that you owe at least five people money/headphones.

I know the odds of getting my money back is getting small but I still want to give it a try. Justin, you are a Christian, right? I really want to believe that you are not ripping people off just for a few hundred dollars.

Thanks,

Rick

Can someone PM me his physical address in Ephrata, Pennsylvania?  I want to do a bit of leg-work on this.  Even though I've mailed him an item before, the PM with his address in it has been deleted.

Thanks,

It's also a bit interesting when you look at his "other" profile on eBay and see the items he's recently purchased.

- Craft putty

- Hydroponic Lights

- Herb seeds

- Rugged leather boots

- 1/4" TRS connectors

- Etc.

I've learned from another user in another thread here that Justin has a 3rd eBay ID and has some Grado wooden cups listed.  This ID doesn't have any feedback, yet.

[Mod Edit: Please do not ever post people's personal information]

when i sent money it went to fred smith. may be his name or his fathers as i think he is young. yes we should for sure and pull together and make a group claim. my claim is in we will see. i don't know if they will cover my headphones he has. is saw the pics and he totally f****ed them up!

who knows he may never come back from alaska but lets all stick together. at least we are not alone..........makes me think how he can sit back and listen to music with a clear conscience, although some people dont have a conscience. did anyone ever try to talk to him on the phone? he would never talk to me on the phone which i thought was strange but there was nothing negative said about him then.

Hi F,

1. I think you should remove his address. That's inappropriate.

2. Both you and A mentioned a "group claim". Is there such a thing? If yes, I am in! I paid through PayPal but I have already missed the 45-day-buyer-protection window.
