Being in the trade doesn't guarantee competence or honesty. It's simply a moniker to indicate somebody is in a for profit making situation. It allows members to filter bias. It was a fine use of the moniker. I thinks it's other's assumptions about 'member of the trade' that are the issue here and not the mods designation. Him actively selling services here without the moniker would be a worse situation.
Since when in life does anything 'guarantee' competence or honesty - especiallly online?
Having a 'member of the trade' under your name on headfi can assure a new member on the forums that these people are actually reputable dealers with a business and headfi are endorsing them.
We have found out from this thread that a 'member of the trade' can actually be a guy in his parents garage hacking a headphone, making a complete mess of it, then flogging it for $300 to other members of the community.
Couldn't disagree with you more on this, there needs to be much stricter vetting from the administration team on who is portrayed as a trade member. There are so many rules on what a trade member can or can't say on the forums, so why not at least do a little background before giving him or her the title in the first place. If someone hasn't earned a 'member of the trade' title then they should NOT be allowed to mass sell anything to the other members.
Anyway this is digressing from the people who are owed money or product, so lets keep it on track and for the people who are trying to resolve a problem with Justin.
