I'm not sure if anything is going to help with that, but I would suggest updating to the newer firmwares as these include updates to audio handling, and if no joy there then try Siyah kernel and exTweaks to see if that helps. Ultimately I'm not that hopeful though, if you're using very sensitive IEMs then the S3s 3ohn impedance is likely the culprit.

 

EDIT: Oh, should ask this also: International or US-variant S3?

First off NICE BACKGROUNDS DANNY!!!.

Ok, so I was wondering I read the last 22 pages of this thread and need clarification on something that doesn't sound right to me.  It seems that you guys are saying that any phone that supports USB OTG & the E7 amp, will have the exact same audio quality?  So if I hade say 10 different brands of phones that all supported usb otg & the E7, and used the same headphones on all of the phones, the phone itself would only act as a library for holding/organizing my songs with no influence at all on music quality?

US.. for better or worse. i havent followed the thread, is the international one better?

I don't think anyone is 100% sure to be honest, not seen direct comparison. I think general consensus is that the International is better, however that only be brand-recognition at work given the International one has the Wolfson. I get my AT&T S3 sometime soon, will be interested to compare to my International one.

 

Given yours in the US one none of the advice I had to give really applies to your handset, since those ROMs and kernels are all for the International model I'm afraid.

Yes that's correct.  It should theoretically only serve as a portable drive with no effect on SQ.

I think the sound signature would be exactly the same but the overall SQ would differ slightly due to different hardware configurations, as with the S3 the USB out gives higher distortion levels than the HP out but on other devices the USB out is better than the HP out...you would get more hiss and distortion on one device compared to another etc

I'm also hoping someone knows about loading kernel modules.  I've been trying unsuccessfully to do so from a terminal emulator.  Since the Siyah kernel plus a Touchwiz ROM support USB audio, I'm trying to get Siyah plus the latest Jelly Bean build of Paranoid to do so as well.  I listed all of the preloaded modules while in Foxhound by using the "lsmod" command in terminal.  They are:

 

 

dhd

btlock

Si4709_driver

exfat_fs

exfat_core

 

Presumably, the last two pertain to Exfat formatting of SD cards.  Hopefully, one or more of the first three relate to USB audio.  Using the same version of Siyah while running Paranoid, I don't see any modules preloaded.  That leaves me somewhat encouraged.  I've managed to insert dhd & btlock, but Si4709_driver is a no go.  I still have no USB audio.  And after a restart, the modules I inserted are gone.  Can anyone assist?

Wonder if they'll keep the TouchWiz lock screen. I love the look of the Jelly Bean lock screen, but I want to stay as stock as I can...
