My PICO will hopefully arrive next week (at the same time as my Beyerdynamic T5p!), so I will check with my international one then. I have a garnet red AT&T S3 coming to me also (will SIM unlock it for use here) and will check that too.

Tonight I'll be posting my new porta-rig photos to the "Show us your head-fi station thread". WHOO.

The amping and stereo separation seemed to help, however DAC direct and 128x oversampling didn't appear to do anything on that earlier build (I see the available tweaks have changed a bit since then, so not sure what the current state of play is). I think Siyah and ExTweaks is about the only way to really exert much more control over the sound output at the moment, at least without resorting to a USB DAC.

How are you finding Siyah + ExTweaks?

...in relation to Voodoo Sound, I still expect it to come, but who knows how long it might take.

ExTweaks / Siyah and the DAC direct is seemingly only beneficial if you have 48khz rips...

Must admit though, that I'm liking the combo as a general rule, and have not used the E7 / E11 combo at all since rooting etc.

Nice, look forward to it.

Looking forward to posting my own shots next week - red/white S3 --> grey PICO --> T5p :)

Outside of the USB DAC issue will be very interested to see how the S4 Krait DAC compares to the Wolfson in the international version.

I already hear the krait being a bit dry, lacking dynamics, and a tad bit grainy (at least compared to my old iPhone 4's HPO). It doesn't really matter though, because the slightly tipped up extremes of the Pico make for a more neutral response than the iPhone 4 HPO and the less intrusive headphone amp makes for a very competent portable experience.

Also, my setup is a Pebble Blue SGS3 in a Cognac Leather Blue/Brown stand case, with a dark blue Pico DAC/amp. A very sexy set-up, I must say.

Stock ROM?

It really isn't so bad when using a better kernel / tweaks... Not fantastic, but - definitely better than stock.

I agree. I can only really tolerate it with low impedance "for fun" cans. I really only drive my M-80s directly out of th HPO. Would never think of using my TPs out of it.

Somewhat, yes (particularly the international version from what I hear, I think the EU has stronger regulation on permissible noise levels).

As mentioned non-stock kernels have options for increasing the output.

There was a tweak of the previous Voodoo kernel that made the Voodoo usable on the S3, but then there was a problem with phone calls. Did anyone eventually fix that? It seems to be a more realistic solution than waiting indefinitely for Supermario.

That was Siyah kernel + the exTweaks app, and an early release of the kernel at that. That problem was fixed long ago now.

BTW, it isn't really Voodoo Sound, more like a kind of kanged port of the old Voodoo Sound as it was for the Galaxy S. I expect when Supercurio does eventually release Voodoo Sound proper for the S3 it will be a great deal better than Siyah+exTweaks, however I agree that in the meantime users not going the USB DAC route should certainly be using Siyah+exTweaks.

Yeah stock ROM. I won't change anything as I like things as close to "original" as possible. If Voodoosound improves everything though I may do a CF root (recommended for me by SuperCurio as it doesn't change anything at all)

BTW incase anyone hasnt seen this its a mod so that when you long hold the volume button it changes the track (only when screen is off!) it may sound like it wont work well but it does!

I find it crazy good with a custom kernel like Siyah...I have the gain on +57db and it drives my DT770´s great, I listen on 85% and thats seriously loud, theres zero distortion too and it sound great, no clipping at all and these Beyers are in no way considered portable headphones (80Ohm) so the amp section has rather surprised me! I no longer use my Digizoid ZO2 especially with the hardware EQ Siyah takes advantage of!

Yeh I am, just so you know use STweaks instead of ExTweaks...also this kernel has got the hardware EQ enabled in the Wolfson chip but you need to use an app such as SManager and go to

/sys/devices/virtual/misc/scoobydoo_sound and the EQ bands are there available to be edited!

I rooted mine european version and installed lg8 rom + siyhas kernel, with dac direct option. The result is very very good, increase the overall quality and expecially instrumental separetion to my ears.

(I raccomand lg8 or newest rom)

I am very very happy for the result.

Very very very happy :-))

I don't think an eventual version of vodoo sound by supercurio get more than siyhas kernel.

But if supercurio improve the actual quality, the s3 will be a little musical monstre.

My senn hd 650 would like to thank for siyhas kernel.

I have also a sony walkman z 1070 and I can say the s3 amp section work very very well ( I prefer s3 + hd 650 than s3 + o2 amp + hd 650)

Ciao

Yeh I thought I noticed an improvement when upgrading to LG8 firmware...strange!

I didnt noice any difference when the DAC direct was enabled or dissabled though so dont think that is working correctly tbh

You should try Foxhound ROM! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708371 has all the Sammy features and more...and it looks so sexy haha

I also had a Sony Z1060 and the S3 comes very close to it indeed...however the Sony could no where near power my DT770´s where the S3 can :D
