Hm, according to XDA, the 4.0.4 update for the G9 fixed it. Should be working...

4.0.4 definitely didn't fix it for me, even did full manual wipe install of the firmware from recovery and nada.

I haven' tried the newer 4.0.6 firmware yet, perhaps that will fix it for me (others seem to have been fine all along).

Also, little video showing off connection options for the S3 - MHL, RDP, USB OTG, PS3/XBoX/Wii controllers etc etc and of course USB audio with the E7:

Also got NOVA 3 on my S3 and playing it via MHL on my HDTV with a PS3 controller over bluetooth (every bit as freaking sweet as it sounds).

Will repeat my post on XDA below in case it's interesting for anyone. Keep in mind that I'm a noob audiophile and might not have a clue what I'm taking about. smily_headphones1.gif

So sadly my TubeDac 11 doesn't work via OTG. Fingers crossed that a developer can extend the DAC support to more devices.

I did spend a bit of time with my FiiO E7 / E9 combo plugged in via OTG, which as has already been reported works perfectly. Contrary to what Supercurio seemed to tweet the other day I felt an improvement in sound through the FiiO setup. I tested with a Denon D2000 and Grado SR125 and both seemed to produce a richer and more dynamic sound through the FiiO (compared to stock player with flat EQ). They're both easy cans to drive, but still seem to benefit from the amplification of the E9.

That said, I've found the headphone output quite good on all my cans .

I've already posted my listening notes earlier, for myself I think it is very much improved by the E7.

EDIT: I see another audio fan has tried out the E7 and he thinks audio is greatly improved. I'm particularly interested in his and your feedback, since your impressions were both contaminated by hearing Supercurio's comments on the E17 first before your own listening, and so less likely to discern the difference if it was only negligible.

does anyone have a comparison between the cowon z2 and the galaxy s3??  I'm looking for a new phone with the best audio quality I can get, but if I cant get that then i would just use my old nokia dumbphone and get a dedicated mp3 player, like the z2.  so help!  i would use sennheiser IE8s with them.  thanks!

I rolled back to honeycomb. There's semi-frequent reboots under high cpu-load, but USB audio works perfectly :)!

Be careful, it HAS to be a USB OTG adapter. Generic micro USB to USB adapters will not work.

The way to tell (if your audio isn't working when you're set up) is that if you plug the OTG cable in on its own, the notification bar will advise that a USB device has been attached - this will NOT happen if it isn't OTG compliant...

Perhaps someone can tell from the specs for the Wolfsons which is better? I know that doesn't mean that one device doesn't implement the components better than the other, but would be a starting point for comparison...

Unfortunately I don't have the technical skills to tell from looking at the specs. However I'm sure there are many members on here who can. First link is the wolfson which is probably in the Cowon Z2 (it was in the D3). Second link is for the Wolfson in the S3. Thanks to anyone willing to check the specs and confirm which is superior etc.
