Up for grabs is a Sennheiser HD600 in fantastic condition. It's easily one of my (possibly the absolute) favorite headphones, but the reason for the sale is simple: I own two and only need one. The one for sale is the original black mesh version. The other one I currently own has the silver mesh. If you're interested in reading a brief comparison then continue to the next paragraph. Otherwise, skip it.
Firstly, I must state that there are far more similarities than differences. As a matter of fact, I'm 99.9% confident that I wouldn't be able to discern one from the other in a blind test. Testing via both my Apogee Duet 2's headphone output as well as when adding my PPAv2 to the mix, the differences between the two are incredibly minuscule and most likely attributable to age. (the new one was ran in for approximately 120 hours prior to testing) The silver version has slightly more pronounced treble making them sound a bit edgier at times. The black version has a slight edge in soundstage size. And that's really it. I originally purchased the black mesh version a few months ago. (after already owning a pair years ago and foolishly parting with it, that is) I then started reading impressions of the silver mesh version and my interest was piqued to buy a new pair to do my own comparison. Needless to say, there wasn't much of a comparison to make. The reason why I'm letting go of the black mesh is twofold: I paid less for it (but still more than I'm asking for, mind you) and has one small flaw detailed below.
I'm the second owner of these headphones. The original owner used them sparingly, cared for them well, and stored them in their original box when not in use. The only imperfection I could find is a slight scratch on the Sennheiser logo printed on the headband. I did my best to take a picture of it for the perfectionists like me, and in my opinion it actually looks more pronounced in the photograph above than in person. However, since the pads it came with were a bit mis-colored and deformed, I decided to swap the newer ones onto it. The pads it will come with have seen less than 10 hours of use. (more like in the 5 hour neighborhood) Likewise, I have a Cardas for the pair that I'm keeping, so the one I'm including and the 1/4" adapter have seen minimal use. The inner box, outer sleeve and original instruction manual are also included and are all in good condition.
I'm looking for $OLD if gifted by PayPal. (otherwise, add 3%) I'll pay for shipping to anywhere within the continental US via USPS Priority. I'd prefer to keep the sale domestic but will entertain offers from international buyers with my usual disclaimer: the buyer must pay shipping and accepts all responsibility for the headphones arriving safely.
Thank you for looking and please feel free to PM any questions you may have!
