Since it's the same team as the main show I'm withholding judgment until I actually see it. Still, not expecting much.

Of course, I wasn't really expecting much when I started watching the main show either, so I'm willing to give it a chance.

Well, from the trailer

  • There's a mean popular girl
  • Twilight is the nerdy kid with no friends
  • She gets a crush/boyfriend type character

Yeah, not very promising so far.

I would not ever imagine Twilight in a high school drama type movie..... Immean, there are people with the exact same description as the ponies she knows but I'm afraid that the writers will just change too much about her personality deep down.... In MLP, would you expect Twilight to get a crush and act like a teen girl about it? Also, she isn't that age... In the show I think she's assumed to be older... as in, do you expect the human Applejack to be old enough to co-OWN sweet apple acres? Or Rarity's human to own a fashion store? It's like their turning back Twi's age dial and there are just so many things that they're making too close to the show.... with others being too far from the show (age etc.) but I won't be the sort of person that will refuse to watch it... I'll watch it but I won't pay to go to the cinema to watch it.

Exactly.... I'll go stand in line for a ticket with my wallet out when we get a real My Little PONY movie....

*sigh* Such a depressing situation for so many people, including those at DHX. I'm just sick about it....

While I agree with most of the points here, I wouldn't consider it depressing. At the worst we'll all agree that it was a horrible idea and then go back to watching the excellent show.

Yes, it would be nice to have a proper movie, but not having one doesn't take away from the show itself.

But having a movie like this DOES take away from the show itself. For me and, based on their responses, many others. How?

Humans are now canon

No they aren't. This isn't MLP:FiM Equestria Girls. This is MLP:EG. Meghan McCarthy said that the two were separate and the movie would have no bearing on S4.

No, she said Equestria Girls won't BE Season 4. That doesn't necessarily mean things in the movie "didn't really happen." Based on the trailer, the movie starts in Equestria after Twilight becomes an alicorn. That makes the movie canon right there. The only way humans could be not canon would be if the movie turns out to be a dream or something. Like, maybe Lyra's dream....

...Hey.... I might be on to something there....

I'm seeing these as separate. Unless they mention humans in S4, this never occurred. I feel the same way about the comics. The show is the original medium and what determines if it is canon or not.

I really think this is for marketing towards a very specific viewer group by Hasbro. And that the show will be wholly unaffected by this.

Honestly, I'm not. But maybe I can convince myself that they are....

...I'm just bummed out about all of this.... *sigh*

This thread hasn't seen much activity for a while...

I guess there isn't much new news

I switched to one channel and designed a new banner. I'm not done yet though....

How does it look? (Feedback would be appreciated)

Personally I think it clashes a bit much with your avatar overlapping part of the text on the banner. Maybe try to scoot things over a bit, give the banner a bit of whitespace between itself and your avatar (yeah, I realize that's not the layout that YouTube's going for, but as it is it looks like you avatar's part of the banner, but not in a good way).

Alternately, just switching the list of friends to the right side might help, since I think it mainly bothers me that your avatar is overlapping and cutting off relatively small text.

Edit: Just resized my window and realized the banner remains centered. I would still recommend your main 'SOUNDPON3' be the left, followed by the list of friends and then your OC, so that if your avatar is overlapping it's just on some of the big text instead of completely obscuring the list of friends.

That's the annoying thing with the new youtube layout. It has to cater for every device and configuration with just one image. On my screen, nothing overlaps over text and yes, my avatar needs to be updated...

Thanks for the tips.... I'm just trialing it. I think it might take a while... and seeing how it looks on all devices

EDIT: I don't even know anymore. I made a new icon but I'm not really happy with it so I'll change it.... I'll get back into designing the channel and such in a week and a bit... I have exams coming up so I'm just going to go study

Well, just saw Equestria Girls, and I was very pleasantly surprised, it was quite good and a lot of fun. There were a bunch of fun references and fan callouts, and some excellent music as usual.

Definitely better than I was anticipating.

Oh, and if you see it definitely watch through the credits.

I've heard all sorts about the credits but they're not showing it in Australia..... Or something.
