Well, from the trailer

• There's a mean popular girl
• Twilight is the nerdy kid with no friends
• She gets a crush/boyfriend type character

Yeah, not very promising so far.

I would not ever imagine Twilight in a high school drama type movie..... Immean, there are people with the exact same description as the ponies she knows but I'm afraid that the writers will just change too much about her personality deep down.... In MLP, would you expect Twilight to get a crush and act like a teen girl about it? Also, she isn't that age... In the show I think she's assumed to be older... as in, do you expect the human Applejack to be old enough to co-OWN sweet apple acres? Or Rarity's human to own a fashion store? It's like their turning back Twi's age dial and there are just so many things that they're making too close to the show.... with others being too far from the show (age etc.) but I won't be the sort of person that will refuse to watch it... I'll watch it but I won't pay to go to the cinema to watch it.

Exactly.... I'll go stand in line for a ticket with my wallet out when we get a real My Little PONY movie....

*sigh* Such a depressing situation for so many people, including those at DHX. I'm just sick about it....

While I agree with most of the points here, I wouldn't consider it depressing. At the worst we'll all agree that it was a horrible idea and then go back to watching the excellent show.

Yes, it would be nice to have a proper movie, but not having one doesn't take away from the show itself.

Humans are now canon

No they aren't. This isn't MLP:FiM Equestria Girls. This is MLP:EG. Meghan McCarthy said that the two were separate and the movie would have no bearing on S4.

No, she said Equestria Girls won't BE Season 4. That doesn't necessarily mean things in the movie "didn't really happen." Based on the trailer, the movie starts in Equestria after Twilight becomes an alicorn. That makes the movie canon right there. I'm seeing these as separate. Unless they mention humans in S4, this never occurred. I feel the same way about the comics. The show is the original medium and what determines if it is canon or not. 

I really think this is for marketing towards a very specific viewer group by Hasbro. And that the show will be wholly unaffected by this.
