How about the click wheel of the ipod? The wheel control for the sound volume is the best experience you could have for a portable DAP and nothing can beat it, period.

 haven't used it in a while.... the internal amp is just not good enough... don't know what's causing it but it has horrible distortion from time to time which doesn't happen with a portable amp... that's without commenting the noise and low sensitivity of the internal amp...

hmm, my ears are just not that good to hear those things or to be bothered by them. Once the music starts playing I totally forget about sound quality. wink_face.gif

Are you using EQ presets with Apple's firmware? They cause distortion unless you run mp3gain -a on your MP3s or aacgain -a on your AACs before transfering them to the iPod.

 of course not... and i'm running 400kps m4a files... too lazy to convert the flac wav tak tta into the apple lossless but 400k is almost the same as lossless...
