It really sounds almost unbelievable, that there should be such a difference, but on the other hand I just read that the maker of the Altmann Tera Player said that he observed jitter directly from flash memory, which might be the difference in what you are hearing. I expect that if this is true, then it's because a very high read speed card will produce less jitter.

24-bit / 96kHz FLAC files are only about 2MB/sec, so in theory this shouldn't be the issue blink.gif but then that's just theory wink_face.gif

I also think the only reasonable explanation is related to some jitter in reading the card. Reading speed should be then the key parameter, but also the amount of memory on the card depending upon the way the memory is accessed. Naively, I would expect the firmware to play a role and perhaps issues can be fixed.

I have just checked and the Sandisk class 10 is rated 30 MB/s (they don't specify separate read and write speeds), while the Toshiba Exceria seems to be the fastest available at 95 MB/s read speed (Samsung Pro is rated 70 MB/s).

Does HDP-R10 (DX100) picky with the micro SD card? Or the Micro SD card itself has different sound quality?

May be the question here is which is the best micro SD card to work with HDP-R10 based on below options:

1) Brand? (iRiver, Lexar, HP, Sony, TDK, Philips, Toshiba, Verbatim, Sandisk, PNY, Kingston, Samsung, Transcend, Amazon, Patriot Signature,   Duracell, MaxFlash Action, Adata, Dane-Elec or MicroDisk)

2) Class? (4, 6 or 10)

3) Capacity (8, 16, 32 or 64 GB)

Yes, if you are referring to the 4 sec. delay. But other than that,  everything else should be similar to the DX100.

Does Toshiba make 64GB µSDXC cards? With similar read speeds?

No maximum is 32 GB since it's the SDHC format.

Yes thank you, I do understand that the SDHC tops out at 32GB, but my question is has anyone tested SDXC Toshiba cards and compared results with say SanDisk cards?

Apparently there are no SDXC Toshiba cards, at least no one is on sale at amazon.

I have a question guys. I know DX100 has a lot of updates and with the latest firmware it is functioning pretty much perfectly. IBasso did a nice job at there. How would you compare R10 latest update (8.02 I guess?) with DX100 latest update as far as user interview and being bug-free topics?

Or, I would say, did you find R10 user friendly or it drives you crazy like early DX100 without latest updates?

I have compared with my friend DX 100 latest fw

My IMO HDP R 10 with fw 8,02 is better than DX 100 with the latest fw
HDP R 10 SQ is More black backgound , more balance .more detail .

The UI is also better compare to DX 100
My DX 100 stayed with me only 1 week
My HDP R 10 I will keep longer biggrin.gif

 Thanks man.

Minus only loading first songs a bit longer
The UI more easy to understand and not so boring compare to DX 100
Slower compare to AK 100 or AK 120
The best UI for me is I Device.

I agree the UI seems more responsive and easier to use on HDP-R10. Sound wise I also prefer the HDP-R10.

Importing it to Eu will cost around 700 euros. I think price/performance it is a killer. I really don't mind it's size and I won't use it with amp. I was thinking Portaphile but it uses same opamp627, I don't think it will improve the sound of R10. Any ideas about it? Any suggestions for portable amp?

I really think I am going to get this, nothing seems like proving better sound quality and features.

Can R10 play gapless in any play mode like folder view?

Yes. As for the amp, there's not much point since the HDP-R10 is supposed to be an all in 1 DAP. However, if you want an amp to drive something like the LCD-3 better, maybe get an ALO RX-MKIII B.
