Can anyone confirm this claim?

I have ordered some 16 GB Toshiba cards since I was curious after your recommendations. I will let you know my impressions after receiving the cards.

exFAT is for cards with more than 32GB (64GB and up). A 16GB card is in other words formatted to FAT32, unless the user himself reformats it.

I own a DX100 , and was soooooo close to pullin the trigger on this one based solely on DSD support . And thank you  AnakChan for clarifying exactly what type of DSD support it does .

I ve waited for my Oppo 105 to get DSD support , now it does , but at the expense of SACD-R so i was moved to this model , you saved me alota tears  AnakChan .Thank you

Is there any other portable solution for true/native DSD ? If so can it compete with the DX100 in sound quality ? I ve googled alot in last year on DSD DACs and this is the only one i find .

Can we be that far away from native DSD support on a portable device ?

Fingers crossed

Cheers

You may wanna search around this thread or the DX100 thread cos somewhere I seem to recall reading the HDP-R10 doesn't do native DSD (despite the chip being able to do so). If memory serves me correctly it was converted in real time software-wise to PCM then to the DAC.

That was the reason why I didn't go for the HDP-R10 cos I felt it wasn't worthy to store 300/400MB files only to get converted realtime. So I convert & down-sample myself and store hires PCM on the DX100 instead.

Search for Takoyaki & HDP-R10 if memory serves me correctly.

Edit: Found it, http://www.head-fi.org/t/592076/ibasso-dx100-24-bit-for-bit-pg-1-reviews-impressions-downloads-video-new-firmware-1-4-2/7050#post_8560047

Thanks for the clarification, Anakchan. Looks like down-sampling with Weiss Saracon or equivalent may indeed be a more logical solution, then. This certainly would not stop me from going for the HDP-R10, anyway, though. smile.gif

Omg no, he is so keen on typos, please edit your post and type his nickname correctly. Once I made a bad typo on Hibino and I felt so bad after his reaction biggrin.gif Just kidding, he is a great guy I always love to see his opinions and impressions.

Just curious in actual listening which sounds more superior, DSD or PSM?

Can you really tell the different in term of sound quality between these two audio encoding?

This really isn't a HDP-R10 specific question. May I recommend that search in the forum site a little more (possibly in the Sound Science section) or Google. This has the potential to be one of the more controversial topics.

Any news from Hibino about the firmware update they promised?

Sorry but I am a bit lost here. What exactly is meant by "slow"?
