On my DX100, since I load most of my music in the internal memory (not much on my external 64GB sd), the startup is also quite fast. I would say about 30 secs.

But I would like to read your input on the sound quality. That is what interest me. While I don't expect it to be much better than the DX100, I hope it is good enough to upgrade ksc75smile.gif
The sound quality IMO is an upgrade to the DX100. It has more detail and the mids especially are amazing. It is a tiny bit mid forward though.

Thanks for your input on the SQ of the HDP R10. I will seriously consider getting this device. I have my doubts on the SQ of the AK120 but I am still waiting for more reviews on it before deciding.

Imo, the AK120 looks better but it is overpriced and somebody said that it's not up to the level, of the HDP-R10. You should be looking at this and the HM901 if you want a DAP for just SQ.

Also, 3 ohm output impedance of AK120 will still mess with the frequency response of most IEMs whereas R10 is <1ohm (I believe) so no problems.

First you buy your HDP R10 , as stand alone dap is excelent
I want only share with all friend here , that the strong point from HDP R10 are line out
And coax out .
If you have already portable amp than use it with your HDP R 10 line out , you can hear the improvement in sound quality compare to HDP R 10 alone .

Rudi, first you "kill" me with your multiple setups. Then you "kill" me with your words of wisdom to buy the HDP-R10 etysmile.gif

So I took your advice and just ordered the HDP-R10  beerchug.gif I think I just killed my wallet tongue.gif

Hi Rudi,

Do you think HDP R10 is better with line out to amp:
1) Because the onboard amp isn't as good as the external ones you compare it to, or
2) Because the volume control in the DAP is digital and with IEMs/CIEMs you have to reduce the volume so much that some SQ is lost in the digital domain.
3) Both 1) and 2).

What do you think?

The internal amp is very good

If you hear direct from the line out , you can here the pure sound from the sabre Dac chip .
And from the coax out has excellent SQ too .
That's why the pure sound from the line out is much better than from headphone out .
Please try it by your self than you can understand what I mean better SQ biggrin.gif

I just contacted Hibino and they said that they will correct the delay after selecting a song (about 5 secs) and the pop with the next firmware update (8.0.3)

When do they expect to release the next firmware update?

They said soon so I guess in 1 or 2 months.
