I Basso HDP R 10 is IBasso DX 100 Japan Version impressions thread - Page 90

Thats quite known fact :)

I know even better trick. My R10 - I charge it sometimes on the go with standard usb charger. R10 operates with 5V (DX100 with 12V) so what I did I just cut trhe charger wire and soldered standard USB plug on cut end :D Works perfectly.

That's some good info!

I got one of the small newer batt packs w/ usb that can also jumpstart a car batt; around 12000 mah (may be overkill but if it works should give VERY long runtime to the R10.  Will def have to try this.

Also got this today:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006MWXZM0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Tested and it works great with a 2A usb charger. Didn't time how long it took to fully charge but the R10 didn't get as warm as when using the regular ac adaptor.

No problem, the one I have tested is a 12,000 mah battery. It will extend your R10's battery life by at least twice or three times + R10's internal battery life.

I bought the cable too but I think using a portable battery as main power source makes it more convenient. You don't need to check how much it's charged. R10 will just use the battery till it's completely drained.

Friends,
What is the default flat EQ of the R10?
I've been reading a lot on the dx100 thread and got me confused. They say on some of the dx firmware versions EQ Off it's actually android EQ on..sort of.
Quote:

This is exactly my point, when one has the Eq. closed and on flat, it is boosted!!! Backing vocals sounds as loud as the main vocalist, percussions are un-proportionate in size, soundstage is cramped, no sense of depth, instruments on top of each other not having it's on space........the list goes on!

Try this.......switch the Eq. ON. and on FLAT, you will notice that the volume decreases.

On this setting set every band to +6...volumes goes louder! Now switch the Eq. to off. No difference in sound at all!

This leads me to believe when the Eq. is off, it is in fact on the default Android boosted setting which is prevalent on all their devices.........If you want FLAT Eq. switch it on and leave it there. Plus do not hit the rest button as this will revert the player to boosted levels of the Eq. You will know when the setting is correct when it is playing at the lower volume level comparatively"

Don't know if it applies for r10, just want to see your opinion about this.

And...
Mine is 8.0.2 firmware. Should I upgrade? Would I have real benefits if I do? The only thing that bothers me is the pop up that I worry it might destroy my headphones...and my ears as sometimes I forget and get like shot in the head biggrin.gif, you know what I mean...!!
Any news about the next FW?
Thanks!

Dude, forget EQ... its crap. If you want good EQ, use the rockbox on it.

That EQ doesnt even work well.

Yea, there is one: google store services are installed :)

Just sent it back to Hibino in Japan on Monday, my unit has some dents and marks on the chasis, also the charging port was loose, the buttons recessed due to accidental dropping. The purpose of sending was also having them check on the firmware, software, as well as battery. I definitely will get the silicone case for this unit as dropping it was just like a nightmare, like dropping a brick.....I hope they really come up with some good software update as it was so frustrating with the UI to the point that i had to consider getting NZ1 or budget Fiio X5....

Thanks!

I flashed to 8.0.3 when I still had the R10, but that firmware version was crap too. It booted 8.0.3 successfully several times before bricking the device permanently. Good thing I could send back the DAP for a full refund.

But that's exactly the point, bro! I want to know which is the correct setting with NO EQ! Because some say when it's EQ off it actually is default Android EQ on...!!!

[Edit: Merged by Mod. Please stop spam posting!]

WOW!! Thanks, I'll stay away from upgrading, never imagined it could do so much harm! On my android phones I did all kind of crappy stuff, rooting, modding, useless all of them but never so harmful !
Thank you!

You mean a new one, or the ones already in use? I have the 3 of them but never took the risk to upgrade. I was hoping they have released a reliable new one recently... I haven't been on the forums for a while..

Check out also the leather case on Rakuten Japan, looks better than the silicone one and protects more, including the display. Can't remember exactly the address, just enter Rakuten and do a search. They ship everywhere, including here in Romania. I think I will pay double the price on shipping taxes but I liked it. I was looking at the silicone one and it's not enough protection, the display is the most sensitive, especially that it's simple plastic as far as I know. It's 57 $ after using a converter from yen.

I suspect you confused your R10 with your smartphone.

I still couldn't understand how you could brick this unit by updating firmware. I have been flashing backward and forward between 8.03 and 9.03 without any problems
