Wait, the damn thing sounds better than yesterday.  Lovin the stage, but I like X5 better because of it's resolution as my NT-6 outputs high resolutioni.  It doesn't play files on uSD after I loaded up files on the internal memory.  What gives?

I just found out why.  After you add additional files, the player is scanning the new files even thought it doesn't tell you it's doing that.  That's why when you try to play music right after you add files, it will not play, you have to wait until it's done scanning all the new files, and it can take quite a lot time if lots of files has been added.  There is a way to know if the files are done scanning yet, if you go into folder view and look at the music file listing and on the right shows the duration of the music, and if it say 0:00 that means it's not scanned as there should be value for duration instead of 0:00.

The R10 shines with live recordings, live recording sound extremely realistic, and it pushes little nuances in the recording as I hear subtle things going on around Eric Clapton on his Unplugged album.  Actually he sounds different.  It's weird, it's like I'm listening to him for the first time.  I think I'm hearing his voice more accurately, that's why it sound so different.  Added definition reveals his true vocal tonality I believe.  Vocals definitely shine with these.

Holy mother of god, it's vocal heaven here, and the place is HDP-R10.  This ain't no iphone that's for sure.

In my experience the sound of R10 changes drastically (for the better) after >300 hours of use.

I also use the R10 with JH13 FP and really like the sound. I suggest to try the Crystal Piccolino cable from Toxic cable.

As much as I like cables they will do,little in chNgingnthe overall sound . The change is subtitle not big. I would try a different CIEM first. I have the jh13. They are very detailed but a little thin and fault in dynamics quickly.
The jh16 are the better ones ,mi have them too. A little EQ and perfection. Also after the dap warms up a big while playing is when it does get nicer.

Do you have the FP version of the older one? They are quite different.

I agree the R10 sounds best after warming up a bit.

I'm thinking the R10 is slow responsive because of the memory.  Wait, maybe not as uSD has delay also when selecting music to be played.  Does rockbox help in this regard, with the delays?  Anybody have the link to the rockbox for this?

Letting the unit warm up a bit while using it , the sound does get better . I too do not beleave in burnin. But I do very much beleave in warm up. Also I think burnin is in our brains.

i think u have some pretty good number of devices as i see u in the chord thread, a k240 thread and here

So I really wish to know one thing what would you prefer from the following:

1- Ak 240

2- Ibasso HDP

3- an affordable DAP for ex fiio x3 connected to chord Hugo

i am really in fight as to what to buy obviously I can't buy only one device. So I look for the a really nice detailed warm sound with nice bass and avoid sharp sound signature

I think you need to stay tinned for the ak240
Then. The hdp r 10 is good and cheap

I connected the R10 to my computer and it said 60GB free. The music really became unaccessible because of the freezes and crashes. I spent hours copying music to the device again. My 32HB SD card arrived. It's half full now. I haven't tested the speed yet.

Now, it works again and the sound quality doesn't cease to please me. The sound of this player has to be heard to be believed. It's really that good.

this thing is even more expensive than MoonAudio Silver Dragon and currently out of my considering range for a cable. Honestly, i wouldn't want to spend such money for cable, but is it really that worth for an upgrade?
