I Basso HDP R 10 is IBasso DX 100 Japan Version impressions thread - Page 76

4 hours only?? I can't believe it... why is that?

I just ordered an R10. I wish mine plays more than 8 hours :(

I have just finished reading the 75 pages in this thread. All of them. Even the ones with dummy spits. Is there a prize for this achievement?

Overall, I am convinced enough by the variously expressed pov's that the HDP R10 is the way to go, compared to the lesser AK's on performance and the pricier AKs on value. And compared to the HM901 on price / performance. And the iBasso DX50 / DX90 on performance and reliability. And the X3 / X5 on personal experience.

Thanks to this extended commentary, I was able to make this choice without the benefit of a physical comparison of all the above-mentioned DAPS. And I make my choice with eyes wide open with regard to the HDPs limitations, quirks and production termination. Currently $680 on amazon.

So; respect, head-fi! And thanks.

Now to iems!

I'm not able to invest $1000+ on state of the art / custom earphones but I have been impressed with the available reviews of FAD Heaven 4 / 5 / 6s. Does anyone have a view on (or experience of) compatibility between these iems and the HDP R10. My reading of the FAD Heavens' capabilities makes me think they would be a very musical / non-fatiguing match requiring no additional power.

Thanks for any suggestions. (However, if your suggestion is to consider another DAP, please re-read Pages 1-75 of this thread before responding.)

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned off. It's freezing again. I did 5 resets, a manual kill of the Player process and a normal shutdown, but I can't get it to play songs. Sigh. Meanwhile, the battery drained from 55% to 12%. I put it on the charger again...

i do not know what you are doing but if it freezes the battery drains very fast. i can say its twitchy but really only with
dsd. one more thing erase the dap and put the music back on. sometimes the music is corrupted and this drives any dap crazy. do not erase anything but music and take the chip out if you have one. the chip could be causing it too.
also did you pu the 8.03 in yet ?

I reset it and fully charged it. Then, I booted and used the HD Music Player icon to kickstart it, which worked. Now it's playing music again. I haven't downloaded 8.0.3 yet.

I ordered a MicroSD card. The internal storage only has 100MB left. I think I'm going to move MP3's to the MicroSD and keep the lossless files on the internal storage to keep loading times to a minimum.

Ok I am not saying it us not without issues.
But not to level of yours

Thank you for like my impression
Frankly speaking I keep until now HDP R 10 , SQ is excellent
For direct use with iems to headphone is very good .
The line out SQ is simply the best if you pair with external amps
You got coax out SQ is better than line out and optical out
SQ is better than DX 50 and DX 90

Congrats for your mew HDP R10

I went to hibino's website and only found version 8.0.2. The 8.0.3 link on this thread leads to a beta version. hibibo says the 8.0.3 version fixes the pop sound at startup and 5 secs delay on song switches, but they don't mention stability improvements. Haven't found a final version of 8.0.3 yet.

so thats weird no final 8.0.3 version, this is why I am torn which to buy the dx100 or the HDP, since the updates on HDP stopped this means then 8.0.2 might be the final official version, so to solve ur problem u might try to use the beta version

It's working again. When it runs, there's no freeze issue and works quite nicely. Only when you turn the device off and on, it can lead to a memory leak or a process that builds up system usage until it hangs. I suspect that the music app has a memory leak that only occurs in certain situations. When you use the Android OS after a boot, there's no freeze. It can only freeze if you attempt to play a song or navigate through songs/albums after a boot. I won't update to a beta version. If I brick my device, it's bye bye $650. If the firmware is not on hibino's own website, it's not an official firmware. Not to mention an approved stable one.

My R10 can last 10 hours or slightly more.
Been using it to burn in my earphone.
On 16/44.1 wav files.

I think if you only have 4 hours of battery life there is something wrong. My R10 after more than one year lasts about 10 hours (high gain with CIEMs 16/44.1 wav files)
