I Basso HDP R 10 is IBasso DX 100 Japan Version impressions thread - Page 73

Others here can say more , but from what I have read hibino not I basso made the HDP r10. They are a company that makes many electronic devices hiw and why they picked the iBasso device to build on I do not know. The reason for the many bugs in the dx 100 is it's there way . The device although worked had many bugs and was in constant in constant flux of firmwares fixing one thing and adding another. The sound also changed mNy times over from one form ware to another. The hibino did not. A to talk of 4 and the original to the next was the same but just removed all the other stuff except the player . I suspect the processor was undersized and cpuld not handle all the features and for this reason hibino striped it. It plays fine but did not have the pop that other daps like the ak120 has. Even playing flac the GUI stinks. And if you are plYing a dsd file lite a cigarets after you press a button and wait for it to happen. . How ever it did sound better to me than the ak120. The battery life is fine as well. On the side there is a tiny hole to push to reset . This tiny button is your friend as it does just jake up sometimes playing a dsd file and it is the only way to recover from it .

Hello guys, is there any way to install android apps on R10 manually? I know it can't access to app store...

The app I want to install on R10 is Pandora radio station. I think it's the only app that really worth. Can I install this app manually without accessing to google playstore?

Thanks in advance.

Al what HDP-R10 firmware are you currently running? I currently have v8.02 and it sounds and runs fine without any issues, just deciding whether I should upgrade to v9.03.

the latest one , no google aps . I think its 90.3 or 8.03. It's the last one they made. I use it every day , I sold the ak 120 as it was bland compared. .
It's not that there were problems it was the pop when turning it on.

As far as I've read, R10 is better than both AK100 and AK120. Everyone says so... I can assume that R10 is close to AK240 or maybe a little worse but to me R10 is clearly a winner. It has longer battery life and batter design. And the 650 dollars price is more reasonable than 2500 dollars.

In terms of memory, you can buy several micro SD cards and carry them with the player so you can switch the cards whenever you want to listen to new songs.

Hardware-wise, R10 isn't so behind AK240 either. It has all top notch parts. A lot of people on this forum say R10 sounds better than Ak120.  AK240 has a built in DSD chip. But, I think flac and other lossless formats are as good as DSD. 50% of audio engineers couldn't discern DSD from 24 bit / 192 khz wav format during a test.

If AK240 was about 900 dollars, I'd consider it but there are just so many other honest and better competitors.

For 2500, I can buy 250 albums on Amazon or more than 500 used physical CDs on ebay. AK240 doesn't make any sense to me. I'd rather buy 500 real CDs and listen to them with a real CD player. That will take me a few years to listen to.

for me what matters is how does it compare to dx100, does the dx 100 updates in the future provide better SQ than R10, and also i really wish to know how does it compare to warm sounding DAP like Hifiman Hm601,

I am really looking for a warm sounding DAP and I am losing my mind which to choose so far I am considering

1- R10 or DX100

2- Hifiman 602

3- Hifiman 801

4- Ak120

5- ibasso dx90

its so confusing i really wish I could audition these but its not possible as I live in Israel and there is no way for me to audition, all I have is a Fiio x3 and I am worried if I buy one it will not be an upgrade to my fiio x3.

Simply I want a warm sounding dap

I can say this any dap with a sabre chip will not be warm. In fact a bit glaring hahaha the poi site of warm. I had the ak120 and it played very well and without the nonsense
Of the hdpr10 . But the sound is much better on the HDP r10. I never had a dx 100 I owned and after reading the thread was afraide to buy one. The constant firmware changes
Would drive me crazy as what ws better. I am all for improvement and new features but iBasso is just crazy and a constant work in progress .
The new ak240 sowed
Y sounds better than the ak120 did. But the one I would like to hear is the Hugo. But I need it for a few days to tell. As I also have the cypherlabs and it is a better than the hdpr10
But I hate using the iPhone as it limits us to 16/48 . Even if you think it's higher.
So the only way it to use the hdpr10 as a transport and the cypher labs a s the dac . Now I need an amp too . To much stuff to carry man

Doesn't using the Onkyo HF Player allow you to output higher than 16/48?

Regarding any apple device ,there is no output higher than 16/88.2. That's it. For now.
Now a CPU or android allows full resolution to be out out .
