Where can we download rockbox for the HDP-R10?

Just download apk file (current!) from http://rasher.dk/rockbox/android/ (pick 320x480 one).

Install it with adb tool (adb install apk-filename-path) (dont forget to enable usb debugging and plug your hdp to computer :) I guess I dont have to tell what adb is), you can install any other apps this way (i installed different home launcher and some more).

you are not advised to use Rockbox on this player...the fast UI is a plus but....overall downgrade in SQ

I will tell you one thing: much more stable, better battery (much better), plugged usb seems to charge it at same time (or at least it does not use power). Quality is better (opa627), wireless works flawless. In my opinion its a different device.

i couldn't imagine how much worse DX100 is as my R10's battery drops like crazy, maybe the worst device that i've had in term of battery power....The UI is far less responsive than my smarphone, I could imagine myself tossing DX100 in wall any minutes lolz

You've to optimize it in rooting it, then in removing some useless apps. The touchscreen seems to be a responsive one, far from results of a capacitive one.

Same drivers, chip and ears but software and its processing way can have an effect on the sound reproduction. That being said, obviously I didn't try it on R10 since I don't have it.

Don't be confused with the configuration of the volume of the app and the digital sound treatment. Many of the users have heard sound differences between the apps but many times it was just the volume...

I didn't do a volume matched test so you might be right but I remember reading that different programs can sound different from each other.

Btw did you sell your R10?

I don't think you have ever used any digital apps on iphone? I have used so far, Neutron, Radsone, Accudio...they all have way of processing the digital audio, and as the result, there are less slightly or even more changes in the way of sound. They are more than just simple equalizer.

I didn't realize it would downgrade the sound, is there a review somewhere I can read about this and how is the sound degraded with the addition of Rockbox? I don't mind the stock UI as long as it sound great.

I believe it has to do with the software level access to the sabre chip which affects the sound. I don't think rock box have the API for the chip so can't tune it.

Or something

Have anybody demo the r10 with dx90 ? So far I have only came across one. And he also mention he will be putting the r10 up for sale. I'm planning to get a dap , it's eithe the dx90 or r10. Tried the dx90 couple days back and was blown away by the amount of details it had.

On the other hand , I don't have a r10 to demo on. Thus any feedback from you guys would greatly help'

I have the R10 and have received the DX90 last week. I plan to make detailed comparisons, but only after completing the burn-in of the DX90 .....

I don't have the R10 but I have the DX100 and the DX90.  Listening to them on UE18 Pro and they are close but ultimately the DX100 is better.  DX100 has greater clarity and layering, the DX90 has better staging.  It would depend on what phones you use to listen on I suspect.

For portability and swappable battery I would take the DX90 but for pure sound quality the DX100, just my 2 cents.

I used to have DX100 and now I have triple of:

HDP R10

MA9 (balanced, custom mod)

HM901 (balanced)

And I must say, R10 is best, HM901 comes close but just HM901 doesnt have that space, simply doesnt. MA9 on other hand, well, with enchanced balanced card is a different beast and hard to compare but same quality, Im burning now the balanced card for MA9 so later can give better feedback.

If you plan to buy any of those three: HDP R10 is simply best, lowest noise, best bass, best space, HM901 is good too but much more "front facing", you get slapped in face with it :) with HDP r10 ground is shaking and you get shivers...

I test them mostly with JH16 IEMs :)

I doubt that DX90 with 4V battery and ****ty opa1611 can come even close to those (i know opa1611 ver well).

Its just the voltage and the opa1611 in DX90 that downgrades a lot.
