Headphones doesn't take more power than it is needed that is true. But I'm talking about rail to rail supply of the opamp and not the voltage that is going to the headphone. So when the headphone demands it, the amp can always deliver.
Actually this is quite normal in headphone amp, another example is corda quickstep, external 15V battery sounds better than 9V battery.
I always use high gain with my CIEM but my CIEM is not so easy to drive.. So YMMV.

I get what you mean. But I'm leaning more to your iem needing more power. Any DAPs and amps I use, it gets hissy on high gain.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions. With both the Mad Dogs and Uptowns, I am liking the high gain setting.
Will try it with the fx700 to see if I prefer lo or hi setting. smily_headphones1.gif

Just one more question. If I want to "share" my music, any problem in using two phones at once? One on the 6,3 plug and one on the 3,5 plug?
Will it stress the player in any negative way?

Cheers!

If anyone is looking for a carry case for the HDP-R10 or DX100, I got one that fits like a glove!
It's a Hama GPS case. Model 00086997. smily_headphones1.gif

Cheers!

I agree with the previous posts. I much prefer the high gain setting even with CIEMs.

You don't notice an increased noise floor?

No with JH13FP noise is good in high gain.

hey guys, im about to pull the trigger for either the hdp r10 or dx100. the dx100 does have the 10 year warrenty that can act as a safety net, but i havent come across a r10 that had any trouble. will the r10 be a better choice? thanks all!

Hi, how are you?

Never heard the DX100, but I can say I am very happy with the HDP-R10.

Sound quality is top notch and I find the UI to be pretty good to play music.

I only use the R10 to play music, so the interface works well.

Never had a freeze or a crash.

Some people say the R10 sounds better than the DX100. I cannot voutch that as I never heard the DX100, but I can say the R10 sound better than an iPod Touch, Fostex HP-P1 and Fiio E12 triple stack. And it is much more practical and convenient.

Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers!

I am testing it now against HM901, and, damn, Ibasso is better. Less noise, better bass and Im comparing it to BALANCED amp card on HM901!

How many files you use on your sd card with HM901?

I'm definitely going to purchase a HDP-R10 some time this year and compare it to the DX100. My curiosity towards it just keeps growing the longer I follow this thread redface.gif ...

I will tell you one thing: much more stable, better battery (much better), plugged usb seems to charge it at same time (or at least it does not use power). Quality is better (opa627), wireless works flawless. In my opinion its a different device.
