The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread - Page 169

So apparently there was a universal Monet posted for a while, but now it's gone, so I'm guessing it was April Fools. But that seems a bit odd to me since AFAIK a Monet To Go has been in the works for real for a while now, and folks have actually tried the prototype.

So... does this mean the Monet To Go is no longer going to be a thing, or is Suyama-san just posting teaser photos for something that will be a thing at some point? Hmmm...

I thought it was already enough that they didn't ship overseas, now this. Why does one have to be a resident?

I think you are better off getting a Shure or JH, etc.
You'll still need to audition them before ordering and theres a chance you might not like them at all.

Also AFAIK the "being a resident of Japan" requirement is only for the custom version of the Monet, which is apparently too much of a love letter to Japan in Suyama-san's eyes to be given to a gaijin. I'm pretty sure you can get all the other CIEMs even if you don't live there, as I know of some visiting head-fiers who did. You just need to be there long enough for them to fit you and what not.

The alternative is visiting a Jaben, as they are qualified to do FitEar impressions and sell the CIEMs (except the Monet).

I mean hey, I have the MH335DW and C435 and I certainly don't live in Japan...

Still, for the bloke to travel out of the country just to audition for a pair of ciems which MIGHT fail to meet his high expectations, is too trouble to begin with.

A trip to Japan is a pretty amazing experience in and of itself, so I'm assuming someone would get a lot more out of it than just auditioning a pair of IEMs. I know I would, f'sho.

Definitely! I'm not living in Japan either and I have a C435, MH334 and 333. There are Jabens all over Asia, where one can audition the range of customs and do ear impressions.
