Yea. I might just end up going the universal route in the end. Guess I was never fated to go CIEM.

Looking forward for FitEar's next universal model, prob released around summer soonest...

But man....that reply above by chefano... yea... it isn't inspiring much confidence... Looks like FitEar really will be unobtainium now.... sigh...

erm, you are flying there just to buy the iem?

i would suggest you go to HK to get your impressions done instead.

Well, the plan was to fly there vacation/get the CIEM. If I went to HK, well, that'd be worse cuz it'd be the plane fee PLUS the huge premium the resellers charge. So I might as well just drop the idea.

Ever considered getting the 334 to tie you over first?

Oh I already have one with me. I do enjoy the Fitear sound. It works really well for the "anisong" genre. My only requirements to a good IEM are breathtaking vocals...and in that department, the 334s don't disappoint. :-)

Your best bet is to find one used maybe on the forums or on ebay (there's one last time i checked). They're really hard to come by new as FitEar only produces limited amounts of them each year b/c of quality control.

I have one :) A super IEM for sure.

Unfortunately, Fitear custom drivers cannot be salvaged, can be done but sound is not guaranteed as far as i know.

I have one 335 enroute to me now, took the plunge after listening to the demo.
But Im guessing if i don't like it, i wont be able to resell.

Since you have the 334, i think its best if you wait for a successor model to be released rather than going thru the custom route.

No chance of reselling the 335s ever. But they are great so you should not have to worry.

Ive just receive a price quote from a HK reseller for the 335DW, about $600 more than the Japanese price :triportsad:

yea the price here has a significant mark up, and i wouldnt expect top quality service from them too

if i ever get a CM from fitear, i rather fly to Japan and order one, not sure if the japanese retailers will offer the ear impression service, but you can always get that done beforehand

Hmmm...I'm not certain if it works that way. At least historically, FitEar will accept impressions made by themselves or by certain authorised audiologists. In fact, in the past year I tend to come FitEar customers who only get FitEar to take impressions themselves. I don't know if FitEar will accept impressions from anyone else.

As for their authorised distributors overseas (e.g. Jaben, etc.), I was told that FitEar trained their staff on how to take impressions.

Thx Sean for the clarification

In that way, I could try get the impression done at the local authorised dealer (e.g. JXBEN)

I got my 335dw from Jaben HK, the quality of the product is good. And I would rather paid the $600 to Jaben to save my hassles to fly to Japan, find a Japanese head-fier etc, for just making a CIEM. I just went to Jaben shop, make the impression and paid, then I can stay at home comfortably waiting for the end product :)
