I thought the n1 was good when you say it pairs well with 8a lol. Guess im wrong.
Btw off topic but do you find the ak120 to be far superior to the studio v 3rd anv?

Well lightning in terms of sound I think it really does pair well with the 8As. Problem is when you hear other noises in the music (from the screen and the SD slot as well as hiss lol). That's a big no, no and something I can't overlook. So while it may have good sound quality it has other issues that impede upon that. I can't honestly recommend the product based on that alone.... Plus factor in the quirks with the UI it's a failed attempt :(.... The Studio and BA on the other hand also have their own issues. Some hiss & a very primitive UI, but it's nothing like the Nova series and the UI is overall better on the older units. Factor in the tactile buttons instead of the glitchy touch pad and it's a much better overall user experience.

BA is an awesome little player, it's a touch aggressive sometimes in detailing, though I'm not parting with mine to quickly. I know where you can still buy one, but you would need to ship it internationally.

You're welcome :)

Crossing my fingers that this updated firmware on the AK120 brings me more enjoyment from the 8As. So far I can tell the signature has noticeably changed (kinda like the DX100 is known to do from firmware to firmware). I'm noticing more focus on the mids/vocals in particular which was a sore point on the 8As with this pairing. We'll see! smile.gif

From hast on eBay? Yeah, that's where I'm getting it.

Alright, seems like the best choice. :) Thank you and everyone else.

No, my source is in Australia from Noisy Motel. He will ship them internationally. Charging $250 Aus. (before shipping)

Good job on the photography!

Now, can you re-open your unit and show (photograph and post) what's on the OTHER side of the PCB. We'll probably see the twin Wolfson DACs and maybe other interesting stuff.

Just looking at these images reveal nothing really overly special about the device ... i.e., why it may sound as good as some claim. That said, shorter trace distances (better layout) and better-written software as well as a high-performance decoder (the main DSP) -- all synergistically optimized and tweaked -- can't hurt.

Believe it or not, even though there's only a packet of rice bubbles inside Rocco BA it does actually sound very good, there's slight bass roll-off present and the player leans cool from neutral. to my ears, very rich in detail, separation and clarity. The soundstage could be wider though it vary's greatly on the IEM paired. it could have a darker background for my tastes, though it's terribly clear, detailed and rather powerful. You'll be lucky to pass 20/31 with most low impedance IEM's.

I an facing prob with my rocoo, the player can't read my sd card. To be precise, it can read but when I select "Albums" it says no file. But when I go to "external source" the musics are there. What's the prob?

Try deleting the system folder from the internal memory and restarting the player.

It didn't work. Any other solutions?

I'm not really sure. Did you try clean your tags? Maybe you are missing information for the files to show up in those respective areas?

On a side note I actually only use the resource menu to access my music as I found the other method to be sluggish with lots of music on the player. I just don't have the patience for that and folder view/playlists are my preferred means to access my music. Sorry things aren't working for you.

Thanks a lot lee, will try to do it as I prefer to browse through neatly arranged albums despite its sluggishness.

I am also considering to upgrade it to studio v so my question is can it drive hd600 and also match with sensitive iems?
