I am doing a research paper for my English class on the Sony MDR-V6's, and whether or not they are truly the best pair of headphones for under $100. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated, particularly if you could directly compare the V6's to other headphones in areas such as Build Quality/Design, Sound Quality, Isolation and Comfort. Any opinions you have of the Sony MDR-V6's, please post them in this thread, any experiences with the Beyerdynamic Velour Pads would also be especially helpful.

There's no doubting that the MDR-V6 is one of the better sub-$100 headphones, but I'd have to put my money on the Fostex planar magnetic line for best under $100.

Of non-modded headphones, though... I haven't heard the HD 280 Pro or SRH440, but I'm a fan of the KRK KNS 6400 of the remaining choices with equalization.

Yea, I was just thinking about the Fostex T50RP tongue.gif If you have heard the Sony MDR-V6, could you please compare it directly to the KRK KNS6400 in areas such as Build Quality, Comfort, Sound Quality, Isolation... you know...

they are great headphones, but there is no single best headphones, every headphone has a different sound signature, so what may sound great too you, could sound like crap too someone else.

However, you can clearly dictate which headphone has better isolation, build quality and design. Comfort and sound quality are a little harder to dictate, however it comes down to what the majority of people prefer. I mean... when it comes to sound quality, some headphones CLEARLY sound better than others, and there are others which are harder to dictate which one is better. An example... the ATH-AD700's are a fantastic pair of headphones, and there is very little wrong with them in terms of their sound signature, besides one huge fault... it has virtually no bass! This means that these headphones will be unpopular with a large segment of the population...
