Beyerdynamic T90 :D - Page 60

I'd take the DT990 out of the equation, as the bass, I found to be to warm and lacking in definition.

Even with an Amp? What would you recommend for games / movies / some music?

X1 or Anniversary. Forget the Pro 900. I'd get a "special deal" or used (check out the market forums here) Signature DJ before I'd ever dump money into a Pro 900.

Ok so I broke it down from your post and what I read to:

Fidelio X1

K702 anniversary.

BeyerDynamic DT990 600 OHM

It's weird though since it seems the

X1 is only $300,

Beyer DT990 is $367,

AKG 702 $429 and the

K712 Pro is $499

The Philips Fedlio X1 looks cheaper than all the versions, would I need a small amp when I am using them with an iphone or music on my kindle?

Thanks a lot Fegefeuer!!

I took your advice and called the owner of Razordogaudio.com he has a $100 discount on orders over $250. He also was amazing and helped me make my ridiculously long decision

On our talk my final debate discounting the Beyerdynamic D 990 600ohm were::

AKG 712 PRO

AKG 702 65th Anniversary edition

Beyerdynamic T-90

I decided to go with the AKG K702 Anniversary since he said it had a higher resale value, performs the same as the AKG K712 PRO. Plus, I like the color blue.

I was going to spend the extra $150 for the T-90 but due to portability I do not want to be stuck without the ability to use these when I travel. I can still purchase another pair to compare. So let me know if you guys had any more input / ideas.

I was tempted to get the Skullcandy SLYR or PYR, Beyerdynamic MMX300 or PC-360 but it was really hard to decide as from reading what everyone said, I was better off getting a non microphone headset like I chose. Anyone have any other input?

You made the right choice. I had the T90 once and I didn't like the mids and the zingy highs.

Hey, it's all down to your own ears.. Try before you buy, if you can't, don't buy them whatever the circumstances. Unless you know the person who's giving the opinion, and you hear things the same, then pay attention, if not dont pay attention, including my opinion! I, for example would take atomicbob's opinion seriously, as we both have the same opinion of the T90, we love it. I wish I never sold mine!

Very true Eco, your ears are similar to mine;)

My pair is coming in on this Thursday. Can't wait to compare them to my HD700! Also recently got the upgrade tubes to my WA7, which makes the sound warmer. The HD700 has also been criticized to have peaky treble and sibilance, but after burn-in and the amp, the sound signature is completely different than just the headphones alone. I'm sure the T90's treble will be tamed as well through my setup, and will sound very nice :D

But we shall see how it compares to the HD700.

Waiting for comparison. Currently enjoying HD700 with WA7 with upgraded tubes. Love them more than HD650. Also waiting for Schiit stack to arrive as well as Audio-gd NFB 11.32 with TXCO upgrades to see which combo sounds better

This is one of the keys to optimal use of forum impressions and opinions. Knowing the presenter's bias, both anatomical as well as preference. Anatomy of the ear canal varies much like shoe size. What fits some may be uncomfortable for others. But then there are personal preferences on top of the anatomical differences. These too factor into the bias. I find no single headphone that can meet all my usage scenarios but the T90 spend more time than most on the head.
This winter will see an extended period of comparing the T90, HD800, HE-500, HD600 and AH-D5000 on V200, WA3, WA7, Bottlehead Crack and Zana Deux SE. Should prove interesting.

I'll second that on the T90's high. I found them piercing and unlistenable on many songs, despite a breakin of 100 hours.  I don't know what Beyer was thinking when they made such piercing highs.  I found the rest of the sound spectrum fine but the highs were a deal breaker and I returned the headphones

They're working out great for me. no intention of returning. Looking forward to getting to work just so I can listen. smily_headphones1.gif
