The angled drivers on the T1 perhaps is not available on the T90.

Are the drivers same or just angled instead of parallel?

Sweet mother of god, a successor to the DT990's? DO want... badly. As a successor, it better be the bassy tesla it should be. Though from the descriptions, it sounds more like a DT880 successor. Either way, I'm interested, though I definitely want it to be of a fun signature. Hopefully like the DT990 with less treble, and that's it. Keep the bass the same.

Those ear pads.... GLORIOUS. Leave it to Beyer to NOT use stupid *** leather/pleather.

So whats up with these headphones? Nobody tried them? They've been available in Europe's Beyerdynamic web shop for quite a while now, for 499€. I'm surprised there's not a single review out there yet.

Thread Starter

Someone from the Japan headphone expo did have some experience with it. They AB test with the T1.

He said, the soundstage is bigger than T1 but the sound is lacking power. It is bright and the lower end is a bit "unsatisifying".

I think he auditioned with Beyer A1.

Hmmm weird. Seems like the T90 will be a DT880 successor then.  Although, reading what is written on  Beyer's site, I would expect it to be a warmer sounding headphone.

But again, an improved version of DT880 with tesla driver would be very nice. I guess especially with a tube amp.

I am sending the T70 back as it was a major disappointment. The bass is anemic and ts oK bit honestly the 770 600 ohm s better sounding than the twice as expensive t&) I think Beyer is screwing up the line with these kind of list prices and making a lesser sounding product than the 770. I would pass on the T90 as I am afraid it could be more of the same  thing. Bad move on Beyer part IMO/ I think 250.00 would be the list on the T70 the AKG K550 stomps it and I mean by a a wide distance too.

Hell yes. I got so excited when I saw this thread just now! I was thinking of saving up for a T1, but these will treat my wallet much more nicely.

The DT-770/600 is hard to beat. It is a great sounding closed headphone. But I think the exact opposite when it comes to T70! The resolution and soundstage of the T70 is amazing and surpases the DT-770/600 by far. I understand that some people dislike the lack of bass impact but other than that I think the T70 excell in every other way. If the T90 is a more airy/open sounding headphone I think we might have a classic like the DT-990 / DT-880.

In recent years, I've become more wary of new models of favorite items -

electronics or otherwise.  Often (not always) I find that the original

was better.

I'd love a better DT880; it's one of my favorite headphones already.

But I'll reserve judgment on these new models until I listen to them...

That's me, though -

I certainly don't want to dampen anyone else's excitement or enthusiasm about them.

Glad you like it but its IMO overpriced and the AKG 550 has much better transparency and wider and deeper sound stage and very nice bass and may be the best closed phone I have heard except fr the D7K but the 550 IMO really trounces the Beyer. I sent mine back because I found it nothing special and really overpriced for the headphone. I did like the headband and micro pads though. I said it was an OK phone but not enough for me to keep it.

I take it you haven't heard the 'other' DT770/600. Had the strongest bass of any headphone ever. I thought I was going to die. And I'm not the only one who has heard a bass injected pair. Somewhere down the line, it's as if Beyer may have seen the lack of bass complaints and sold a string of DT770/600s that had mostly nothing but bass.

I agree that the DT770/600 is a great closed headphone. I think the reason T70/T70p appeals to me is because I do not need the bass impact from the DT770/600. I prefer sound signatures like Etymotic ER-4 and bright sounding headphones. Sometimes I even think that my DT-1350 has too much bass impact for what I like best. High resolution and great soundstage is what counts most for me. But we are different in the way we listen :-)

So maybe it would be clever for Beyerdynamic to design the T90 for people who find that the T70 lacks bass impact and give the T90 a bit more meat and punch. Anyway I am looking forward to read the first impressions on the T90.
