I recently got a O2+Dac combo and the T90. I'm not really happy with the high peak and now I'm trying to figure out the best eq settings. Apart from that I have another issue: the O2+DAC combo has standard gain settings. When I turn on the gain the sound becomes distorted. It sounds like the mids get pushed and overall it sounds scratchy and noisy. Is this a malfunction?

EDIT:

The T90 are now directly connected to my Asus Maximus IV Hero motherboard. The onboard sound is better than the usual onboard sound, but it doesn't have a headphone amp. And, well, you know what? It doesn't sound worse than my O2+DAC combo. Can you suggest any particular song that I could use to compare? I feel like I am supposed to hear an incredible difference, because you know, otherwise I could just send the Odac back...

I talking about this one: http://www.headnhifi.com/dac/O2-ODAC-fully-modded

Standard Gain means: 2.5x / 6.5x

The high gain on the O2 is really for low volume sources. If you're using a combo unit, don't bother w/ the high gain. If you bypass the odac and connect to something like an Ipod, keep the source (ipod) volume level low-mid then the high gain. The high gain option will clip on just about everything else.

As for EQing, I can't help you there. I actually don't have issues with the peak but I am partial to that kind of signature. I did have issues with sibilance at first but after a while of using it, not sure if it's physical burn-in, mental burn-in, or a combination but it went away.

Heard Koolpep's T90 & Aune T1 Mk2 yesterday. Sounded really nice -  smooth & Musical.

I have been looking at getting some cans to upgrade from the HE400. I got the upgrade bug and have looked at these along with the T1. How would these compare to the HE400? They sound like they may be a bit similar. At the moment they will be powered by a magni+modi stack but will be getting a tube amp.

Is the main difference between the jubilee is the design? I saw those and they indeed look nice.

Yes, I checked with Beyerdynamic in Germany. They are identical sound wise only different in the design. And man, do I like the Jubilee, they look very cool.

However, since I already have the T90s I am most likely not jumping on them. But I have a knack for limited editions.....

Might pull the trigger on these headphones.

Do you guys have any idea if an audioengine d1 can power these? I can only run the thing at 10% with my Q701s.

Speaking of those, would these be a good next step up?

I think someone has done a comparison on T90s vs Q701s, if you find that, you might find your answer. smily_headphones1.gif
