Well to the "reviewer" that stood by his dislike of the T90 and put his reputation on the line.........Me for one think you have completely missed it with the T90. Have been listening to them for a while now............awsome headphone. Will surely take your comments with a grain of salt.

Hey all, just wanted to gush about the T90 a little bit.

I was lucky enough to live with both a T90 and a Fostex TH600 for a few weeks recently in order to make a decision between the two. Before I heard them, I was totally expecting the TH600 to win out (just based on what fellow head-fiers say).

Much to my surprise, when the time came to choose, I decided I couldn't live without the T90! The TH600 is a fantastic headphone, but the natural and crystal clear sound of the T90 blew my mind.

I love bass (I bought the HE-400 for that reason) and the TH600 has it in spades, but the T90 has a decent amount of bass when properly eq'd and amp'd as well. No, it can't touch the bass impact of the TH600 or the HE-400, but the bass is so layered and detailed that I almost appreciate it just as much with the T90. And in terms of the mids and highs, the T90 wins out over the TH600 in my opinion.

Nice to hear your thoughts on the bass!

I might be side-grading from my HE-4 to the T90 but I was a little afraid that it might be too bass-shy for me.

Like DangerToast says the bass totally depends on the amp used, I get the best bass from my OTL amp, Its good on the WA6 too, but  get more punch from the Darkvoice 336.

It has the best Bass quality amongst all the HP's I have heard (please see my profile for the HP's i own), others may have more quantity but cannot match the T90 quality).

Well put! I really enjoy the T90 on two specific amps: Bottlehead Crack with A1834 output and RCA cleartop 12AU7, and Woo WA7 with stock Sovtek 6c45pi.

I have had the T1 and the T90 for over two months now and here are my conclusions:

*The T90 is the most comfortable HP I have ever used. Really, is much more comfy than the T1, the HD600 and the DT880. This is very notable since the weight of the T1 is about the same!

*The T90 has more prominent treble which leads to a more "airy" presentation. I have found that I need to eq. the T90s (a fact which I posted in this same tread) for they to reach their true potential.

*The T90 has more "impact" than the T1. Yes, thats true, percusions sound nicer in the T90.

*The T1 balance is "almost" perfect without eq. In this regard the T1 is the very best

*The T1 is more "effortless". The sound of the T1 is just very detailed AND lush at the same time... It is just too smooth!

*The T1 has less bass but it is more realistic. Again the T1 is just so very smooth and effortless without losing detail

*The T1 cable is not very comfortable as well as the HP itself, still very comfy compared with others

Overall they are quite similar but the differences are still noteworthy.

Conclusion:

T90 = as fun as music can be, impact and detail

T1 = transcendental meditation, glimpse of perfection

Are the T1s worth the $$$ over the T90s? for me they are, you just can lose yourself inside the T1s with the right music. If you are doing from casual to semi-attentive listening the T90s are sufficient or even better since they are more comfortable.

This is the only thing that keeps me from moving to T1, T90 bass is just about right for me (I wouldn't mind a bit more but less is a deal breaker).

I had both at hand at the same time.  I quantity is about the same on both.  If the T90 has more bass, I did not notice...neither model is a bass monster.   What I did notice was that the quality was way better on the T1 (as expected).

Like gatucho mentioned, the T90 is more comfortable - mainly because the T1 is heavier.   Both models, IMO, are comfortable for long use.  The T1 cable sucks balls.  I hated it with a passion.  If I had kept the T1 it would have been the only headphone I would have had re-cabled (for usability, not for SQ ).

Looking at the graphs I always thought T90 has slightly more Bass. Haven't heard the T1's though.

Interesting, thanks for that. Can explain why/how the T90 is more comfortable?

Well the comparison table on Amazon reports the same weight for the T1s and the T90s. My own, informal, measurements seem to agree with this. Nonetheless, on the HEAD the T1s feel heavier. I dont really know why, however I do note three main factors:

*The T90s cable is much more flexible. On the other hand, the T1s cable is hard and constantly stumbles with the shoulders.

*The T90s cups are deeper than the T1s. It seems that the angled drivers of the T1s are to blame here. Nonetheless the T1s cups are still deeper than the DT880s.

*The T1s have more clamping force, not much but noticeable

Finally got my replacement T90s in tonight and popped them in for a bit after not listening to the original ones for about 3 days (developed a bit of ringing in my ears a few days ago). Anyway, wow, I've almost forgotten the musical details out of these cans. Love every little speck of detail from Marley's 192/24 version of Legend. I can tell these will require a good amount of burn in though as his voice is a bit gritty. Just hope the ringing goes away soon... eek.gif

I own both headphones t1 and the t90..had 90 first..i think the bass has more impact on the t 90, but the t1 reaches a little deeper. Mids and highs are much smoother and euphoric on the t1, and I happen to like the cable on the the t1 more. A single cable is always easier to live with, but I like the thicker cable (cable is only stiff where it splits)... Both headphones weigh the same, but the t1 clamps more..t90 is way prettier, wish it had those t1 drivers in it.

I have pretty much the same conclusions. Owning the T90, T1 and HD800 I tend to use them as follows:

1. T90 - most overall fun, casual, semi-attentive and fully immersed listening - these spend a lot of time on my head - love it with a Woo WA7

2. T1 - best balance top to bottom, best for fully immersed listening - also a lot of fun with an OTL amp such as Bottlehead Crack with Osram A1834 and RCA Cleartop 12AU7

3. HD800 - bass less full but more accurate than T1, best sound stage, open and airy on top. Really demands full attention. When used with ZDSE I find I can't multitask, as the dimensionality is so compelling.
