I already have the T5p, I don't need to see this all the time, anyone else have it on their screen all the time?

I see it a lot too. It is probably because Beyerdynamic runs a campaign to relaunch the T5p.

Very interesting. Looking forward to read the rest... smily_headphones1.gif

More cups full of bare plastic?

Even $50 "multimedia" speakers usually at least throw a few scraps of cotton waste or something in the cabinet...

I agree. There's a depressingly low amount of engineering going into the housing of the headphones.

Oh... they are not as open-air as I expected. =(

The housing reflections can be fixed with some adhesive felt behind the drivers. I have some installed in my T1 and it does kill some resonances. It also makes the headphones warmer and slightly smoother, which isn't bad at all.

Eh?  Are you saying I should open up my T5p and install velvet lining?

Knowing Beyer's recent efforts you probably should try it.

It's an optional step to add some felt but it does seem to tame the treble a tiny bit. It gets rid of the edge that some people complain about. I just get some from a local Michaels store and cut the right size ring and press it on.

It works great in the DT770 if you apply Dynamat before hand then put the felt over it. Really kills the cup resonances and tightens the bass.

You'd think if something so simple improved it, they would "engineer " it into a >$500 headphone.

I heard the T70 and T70p today, they are much better than I expected.  Honestly the T70p is one of the closest headphones I've heard to a real performance, it's a step up from the Shure SRH-940.

The Denon line is completely overrated, people just like wood and bass, look at W5000 and W1000X, why no <3 for A1000X / A2000X?

I think there is a suscpicion the T5p is a "portable T1", and the T70/p is a "streamlined T5p", they don't sound as such.  Naturally with only a 5 minute listen there's a lot of "new toy effect" so the T70 / T70p may sound thin after a while, however they are a clear departure from DT770 / DT990 and T5p.

Mostly because they don't even sell them over here.

Ironically, though I own the D7000, I'm not a huge fan of wood. I would've been happy with like a glossy black plastic, if it had the same sound. though the wood on the D7000 looks nice to me. I hated the wood on the ESW9. Non-glossy wood doesn't do anything for me.

You know they released the T1 in May, 2010 I think?  I hope they've applied something new to the T90.

(then again people still rave about the DT48...)

The D7000 looks classy, but I actually prefer the looks on the Fostex TH900.  Too bad it's over two grand  :\
